why Intergraded Graphics Cards can't do shaders?

Problems running games? Right in here.

I have a 4th Gen MacBook which has a 144MB Intergraded Intel GMA x3100 built-in Graphics card and it just says Shaders: Unsupported and I been thinking what graphics cards can use shaders? We have two iMacs that has AMD's ATI Radeon and it's the older model graphics card which is ATI Radeon x1600 which only has 128MB of graphics memory or that will not work either?

My resident shader guy told me that LÖVE requires glsl 1.20 to display pixel shaders, which is the same as OpenGL 2.1 in "directx land" [sic].

So an update to OSX 10.7 will probably enable pixel shaders for you. See my link for other video cards.

Way before I updated to 10.6.8 I ran Portal VIA Intel GMA x3100 once and now I can't I was thinking trying this on a iMac with the old ATI Radeon x1600
