You're right, I probably wouldn't have. I wouldn't have because they don't have a reputation of bad jokes. I still don't see that as logical jump to make a joke though. Observable Universe --> Earth --> Super Mario Galaxy 2
You have made good points however, I'm taking him off my foe list (yes I'm quick to change my mind). There's certainly lots of room for improvement however.

You can't see the unobservable universe from Earth, but we're not looking at it from Earth. We're looking at it from Throwback Galaxy.
This is Turret's attempt at humor.
{...}
Oh, right, how could that POSSIBLY be relevant to what we're talking about? In the words of the Space Core, "Space. Spaaaaaaace." It's a perfectly logical jump, and it was unexpected to boot. It was a good joke. If anyone else had said it, no one would have cared, but it's just because Turret said it that everyone had to kill it off.

I'm serious. Qcode, would you have typed that if it had been me, or anyone else on this forum, that had said that? Probably not.
Something unexpected isn't funny by definition. That's the kind POTATOS of thing small children do in an attempt to be entertaining, spew random words. If you go to a random number generator, the result is unexpected, but it's not funny by any definition. Here, Turret was actually attempting to prove Qcode wrong by bringing up a random Galaxy 2 level, despite it having no place in this conversation. He'd have probably typed it for anyone.

Yes, people do bash Turret for bad jokes more than other people, but that's just because he's been arrogant about being funny recently, and people want to knock that out of him. Idiot is vastly more entertaining, which is why people like him more.
If you like Turret's sense of humour and not idiot's, that's fine. Just accept you're in a minority here.

Honestly, Turret's still a pretty good member in my opinion. He is helpful around the forums, most recently the shader's thread. And he still is active in map making, given that Lego mappack he recently released. He's an overall good guy.

His sense of humor is the only thing that irks me. It seems like he tries to be funny. That "Throwback Galaxy" joke a little earlier comes to mind. Just seemed like it was thrown in there just because he was trying too hard to make someone laugh.

But still, even despite that he's still a good member. He's still miles better than Turtley, that's for sure.

Earth doesn't have to be there - Universe -> Galaxy is all it takes.
I'm glad my effort went through, though.

I never said it was, but it does help quite a bit. Go see an improv show.

I don't understand how he's more entertaining. Maybe it's just personal opinion. Maybe it's the insults that are turning me off.

I couldn't think of a place that would actually be far enough away from Earth that the observable universe would actually be changed significantly.
So I used a fictional place instead. Sorry guys.

I like how you give two entirely contradicting things here. First, you demand proof, then, you declare that you wouldn't actually care even if it was proven. Also, I'm not trying to intimidate anyone, you're just taking your opinions and imposing them on other people. Most people find idiot entertaining. This much can be seen by everyone voting for him in the elections for prime president of the observable universe.

Also wasn't clear. (I spent more than half an hour on the original post, and had to do this one in five minutes to keep current, sorry)
I meant to show that you can't prove it AND that it doesn't matter, not contradict. And you wouldn't have put that if you weren't trying for some sort of superiority move. Having everyone on your back just screams of "WE HAVE MORE AUTHORITY AND BETTER OPINIONS THAN YOU" and I really dislike that card.
Camewel wrote:you're just taking your opinions and imposing them on other people.
I'm no more doing that than you are by debating back. And I'm not actually doing that anyway, I'm just tired of seeing every thread cluttered unnecessarily with "that's unintelligent, Turret/Jony" with no real reason to say such a thing other than it being a different kind of humor than sarcasm. It's different, oh gosh, kill it with fire!  I'm trying not to use the verb that actually describes what you're doing.

You can't actually conclusively prove anything so that's a moot point. It's also a really dumb point. The reason people bash Turret/Jony/Turtley is that they have a reputation for being annoying that they've yet to outgrow.

But my thing is that people quite often won't even recognize his intelligent posts, which means that the answer to this:

is nothing. Nothing at all will change it if you can't even see it. At least be looking instead of picking over minor details that you would overlook for any other person. This is what I keep seeing, and this is why I posted at all.

I'm done trying now.

Something that comes to mind is first impressions. It might seem pointless to try to change when everyone might just go by a first impression. I don't think it's completely true that that's what people will do, but it think it does affect it. People aren't going to go "you had bad jokes before, so you just automatically suck", but if you'd take Idiot and Turret (just examples, nothing against either of you) and they made the same exact joke (pretend that the people wouldn't notice that they made the same joke somehow), I feel Turret would get a less than positive reaction compared to Idiot still. If someone brought this up earlier, sorry, I think I read it all but might have missed something

Also, something I never really have said but has came to mind a lot when you change them, I really like your avatars Turret

this is his response to SJB simply notifying someone on the tileset respositorium that they forgot a few paintings from Mario 64 as tiles. I quoted myself in that post because I had recently told him off for doing another pointlessly rude thing.

Yes I've said that he made/makes dumb jokes, thats a personal opinion. I don't trust him, because every time his reputation starts to clear up, he just digs himself down back to stage one of clearing it up again.

Well, the forum is on the brink of civil war and the known universe is teetering on the edge of total destruction, but I would like to voice my own opinion. Turret is a mostly nice person with good intentions, but he often tries too hard to be funny. At the beginning, I believe his moronic attempts at humor were simply a cry for attention. As he finally realized the absurdity of his attempts to be liked on this forum, he began to understand the proper way to become a valuable member. Unfortunately, he let this go to his head, possibly believing that he was now immune to any negative criticism, and began making bad jokes again and such. Or perhaps he believed that he needed to live up to his slightly elevated status. Regardless, we can all agree that despite his ups and downs, Turret has greatly improved since he first joined this forum. Whether or not he chooses to continue improving or sink back down into utter imbecility remains to be seen. Or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about and I should go to bed because it's 12:30 and I'm tired.

No idea.

Also I saw the phrase 'first impressions' and that is something that really matters. Everyone said I had a great first impression, so therefore I was never really bashed upon.
Which makes no sense because if you look at my post history you'll see that I sounded incredibly stupid.

Quick question, have I ever plummeted? I've always thought that my reputation swerves back and forth. Bad jokes and such.

Also, woot custom hats.
