That's rather sexist. This graph comparing clash of clans and candy crush demographics states that candy crush is only a 60/40 female/male split.

Rather than that(there's a lot of guys who play Candy Crush and other simple mobile casual games), i think it's about playing some Wii and DS/3DS, and casual or specific games...
Most girls who see themselves as gamers only play Wii sports, Just Dance, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Cooking Mama, maybe some Mario Kart, etc.
Most girls who don't fall in the previous category, yet they call themselves gamers, only play games like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Tekken...
There are girls who play the same games guys do, and in the same way guys do, but compared to the prevuius 2 categories, they're rare.

Ok, sorry. I was making a large over generalization. I used to think genders are the same in everything, but they aren't I've noticed. There are many overlaps, but the majority of guys aren't going to go flock to 1-Direction concerts.

(Agreeing with TheSeek here)
I know that's not right and there are plenty of girls who like other games, but when I think of gamer, I think more of big games where you play as the character or control that character throughout the game to unlock him stuff and beat levels and what not. Phone games usually don't make gamers.
There are plenty of guys like that, but I really don't' consider those gamers.

They are playing game, but I mean, if you bake dinner for your family, does that make you a chef?

I made something funny in school: a level design for Mari0.
I forgot to take it home, but at least I have the design in my brain.
It has a large hill, 2 question mark blocks, 2 brick blocks, 1 goomba, and Mario's House. And there's a pool, a short path to the flagpole, and that's all.

In my opinion it's because Candy Crush reaches out into the mainstream population, and people that play it are not necessarily the kind of people who I would call gamers: people that appreciate games as an art form more-so than just a hobby.
Gamers seems to be too large of a term for the group of people I would associate myself with I guess.

I think creating a list of games that 'don't count' is a bad move.
Some people consider me a gamer.
I have won gaming tournaments at conventions.
I mostly play casual games like the Saint's Row series and indie games I find online.
I hardly brag about my 'l33t skillz Pwnin n00bz' but that's because if you play me in a tournament and win, I'll probably buy you a drink or something because you seem like a cool guy.
I'm pretty sure I count as a video games player though.
Even if I had been born with boobs that would be the same.

I'm not saying your gender is what qualifies you. I'm saying there is a divide between them usually.

It's true there is a divide but it's more so the amount it's stated. I know girls who can beat me hands down on games every time. My girlfriend's good at Crazy Taxi, my drinking buddy is a don at every game on the N64 and I woke once to one of my mate's girlfriend beating prototype. Generally the girls don't get together and talk about it as much as men because of stigma mostly.
I mean there's the argument that games don't appeal to women in content and whilst that might be true in some cases, to assume girl's like games about puppies and guys like games about curbstopping aliens results in pretty terrible games by all.

I understand that in total, that is a bad assumption, but there are some games that really have no appeal to guys, but are pretty popular

It honestly depends on what you mean by "gamer", that's like calling someone a "reader" or a "non-reader" I mean yeah everyone reads things but some people just read on a Kindle and some people just read newspapers like filthy casuals they're not in the leatherbound hardback master race so they shouldn't count.

There's the kind of game you play (and for people who want to discount Candy Crush, the entire thing is rigged and your input does very little to determine if you win or not so it's not really a game), how often you play it (someone who plays COD once a year isn't really a gamer), and there's other dumb stuff people consider like what platform you play it on (hence the filthy casuals joke earlier) and how good you are at it and all these other things.

You just don't see "gamer girls" in real life that much because no girl wants to attract attention from the kind of people that get attracted by "gamer girl" (hint you're all fucking creepy).

Also I love like half the games in Seek's list of 'girl games' so that assumption is ridiculous.

Finally someone with a brain.
Camewel wrote: Also I love like half the games in Seek's list of 'girl games' so that assumption is ridiculous.
Wait, i never said those are "girl games"...
What i meant when i listed Wii and DS games is that all those games require you to do nothing more than wiggle a wiimote, and most girls who play only those games, they do cuz controls are easy...the same with Mario Kart, they play it only cuz the controls require to simply tilt the wiimote left and right, and press a couple of button: make them play with a Classic Controller and they suddenly say the game sucks cuz it's too hard: if you're a girl and cant control a game without the controls being as easy as wiggling your hands around and you only play games which have easy wiggly controls, then you're not a gamer girl.
About the FInal Fantasy/Metal Gear/Tekken, i meant girls who play only a handful of specific games, i mentioned those games as example cuz from my personal experience those are games girls like the most when they're not the "wiggle the wiimote" girl type, yet they're not real gamers, but the idea still applies regardless of what games they play: if they only play a couple of games, they're not gamer girls.
All this has nothing to do with how a game can be enjoyable or good(regardless of controls), but with the reasons why someone plays said games.
To me a gamer is someone who, regardless of gender, plays different genres of games, adapting to the controls.
Also, whoever play only a specific genre of games is not a gamer, he's a player...you played all the CoD serie, Quake, Doom, and every FPS ever and you're extremely talented in those, but you basically never play other genres? Cool, you're a FPS player, not a gamer.

i don't know why the word "gamer" is used anyway, i don't mean that shouldn't exist, but looks what it's doing, a lot of discussions about who is a gamer and who isn't, if you want to play a game, good for you, if you want to play a lot of games, good for you, too. But the fact of presuming who you are is pathetic, if you are a gamer, you don't have to tell everybody that you are a gamer, and if you are not a gamer, you shouldn't try to be one if you only will presume it. The boys and girls that aren't gamer and tell everybody that are gamer just for playing a game or two are people that acts ridiculously.

So, let's end this, because this "fight" won't change anything, and continue with the next topic:

(No it's not released he gave it to me so I could stream it)

Also, @hans
Not to be rude hans but if you keep getting ignored like that you're probably not getting an answer
We need a topic change that might actually change the topic, no one likes arguing about this kind of stuff anyway

EDIT: Only 3 people come on
Anyway I'm going to make a map with anyone who joins in! So come on

It's subjective. Like, how regular is "I read book regularly"? There is no "official" meter for that. It's also something blurry: You don't get suddenly from being a "non-gamer" to a "gamer". It's a progressive change.

Is this a coincidence? Or is it another community that happens to be called SYS?

SYS is short for "system" in most people's minds, and the official initialisation of Stabyourself is STYS.

Technically, width-wise they can be any size you want, you'll only just see 400px of it at a time, and once it reaches the end it repeats.
I had to use one really long background for my mappack for the sewer type level. To help show the transparent pipes.

Your graphics card probably has a hard limit on it. Try using something smaller than 4096, failing that try 2048, then 1024.

That's not the point of it; the point is that the content aware fill will only work with images that have a lot of open space. Mostly due to the fact that the only thing the fill does is attempt to fill in the missing details from the environment. If you look closely, you can see that the content aware feature worked a little for his jacket, but then it started using bits and pieces from the picture to attempt to make the child seem missing.

It would most likely be really easy to make the boy actually disappear without making the picture look like total garbage, so as stated above, it was more of a test to see what would happen if I used the content aware fill. Plus... I usually use either Paint Tool Sai and Flash for art (graphics gale if it's for games). But you are right, I should try a little more effort in my drawings anyhow.
