I just hate the entire concept. The hearts aren't even real heart-shaped, (look up what they really are shaped of and you will be really surprised) and why the hell are hearts a love symbol? Your brain generates emotions. It is my least favorite holiday for that and more reasons.

But me having to hear about a particular touchy subject all day - and this is almost the only thing I hear about it, too - gets irritating, especially when some people are overly... worldly. Like most symbols, it has ancient origins...in the past philophers and scientists believed the hearth was the source of all good emotions, especially love, not to mention that most peo'ple thought the soul was inside the heart. Why tho? Cuz most of the good emotions, at their highest level, make the heart beat faster and stronger, so they believed that every good emotion came from the heart, and being love the greatest good emotion, heart=love.
Why it has that shape? Many reasons, mostly cuz of an old plant(used as contraceptive) which seeds had that shape, or cuz it vaguely resembling some female parts(and here comes in play the old association male=strenght, female=emotions).
Not to mention that there are some examples in nature where some animals create the heart shape with their bodies duirng courtship(swans) or coupling(dragonflies), but this last reason is just a mere speculation since there is no historical proofs about that being the origin of the heart shape.

The images are a perfect example of what would fit into the thread - they would not be funny as text, since exaggeration is sort of needed for that to be funny. As explained the thread itself is actually pretty dumb and not likely to generate any good content (with the possible exception of the pictures, but those can be classified just as funny pictures anyways) so it was later locked.
