I wish amiibos weren't so expensive (what can you expect from nintendo products I guess) I've been trying to get Captain Falcon but they're all like $30-$40 on Amazon and Ebay.

Captain Falcon is $12 in normal stores. People buy them and resell them for a larger value.
Captain Falcon is also rare, so people jack up the price for that as well.


(Villager amiibos are even more rare and pricey, which are the ones I want.)

Okay, I can't give much opinion on Amiibos since I"m not a Nintendo fan. But I'm a huge Valve fan, and I'll be honest: even if it was them that did something like Amiibos, I wouldn't buy them. They're the price of a game! And what they do is unlock content in games you already have, right?

I'm not saying this is a cheap way of making money or that they're useless or overly expensive, but I simply can't understand them, and I think even if I were a Nintendo fan I wouldn't bother buying them...

That's because they're not only "more content to your game", maybe nintendo think them as "figurines that add content in your game", and (maybe this was mentioned before) just an amiibo of one character works for all the games that allows them (like the smash bros amiibos of mario characters will still work in the mario party 10 and viceversa). There's not a lot of games that use amiibos right now but if i remember correctly they mentioned there will be more.

TL;DR: Think the price of a figurine and add them the price of some DLC, I think it's approximately the price of an amiibo.

Okay, I can't give much opinion on Amiibos since I"m not a Nintendo fan.

I have a ton of Nintendo stuff but I don't look into them as much as other things. That being said:

As a whole, I've probably spent roughly the price of an "amiibo" on steam trading cards / badges / backgrounds / other stupid shit like Bad Rats. Probably won't buy an amiibo myself but I can definitely understand why others would want them.

People complain that Amiibos unlock contest already in the game, but most of that contest was created specifically for Amiibo, and wouldn't exist without it.

I compare Amiibos to TF2 hats. Everyone wants them and they're a good conversation starter, but at the end of the day, they don't really do much.
