Things I've learnt today:
It's perfectly cool for someone to have deviations, as long as those are the same deviations I have/approve of. Otherwise, they suck. Also, homosexuality is to be despised and homosexual people are the worst cancer in our society.

By the way, this DoctorGleich guy was hardly being "nice". I believe he was trying to be nice (and that has merit I reckon) but he basically just assumed that all of you were gay just because you were bronnies (or whatever you want to call the MLP fans/watchers). Not that there’s something wrong with being gay, but look at the reasoning the Doctor has gone through to arrive to that conclusion:
MLP = Girly (true to some degree)
Therefore, MLP fans = Girly (not necessarily true)
Gay men = Girly (not necessarily true, plus it’s a disgusting and false stereotype)
Therefore, MLP fans = Gay men (Flawed in every possible way)
See what I mean?

And this is exactly why the word aaaaaaa is filtered. Because the people who associate themselves with it are too often like this. Incapable of "live and let live", which is ironically one of the things the show teaches. I wanted to write more here but I forgot.

From 2013:

I hate that word. Oh, nothing wrong with the word itself, but outside the fandom, everyone uses the same blanket term for people who just watch the show every once in a while and also for the batshit insane ones that wouldn't think twice about dressing in pony fursuits and handing out flyers telling people to watch the show and then go to a LARP event where they do sword battles with horse dildos*. Also everyone in between.

And don't even get me started on running several inside jokes into the ground, the "conversion" crusades in the earlier days and the god awful horribly cringeworthy videos that appear every once in a while. I recall one being so horrible I had chest pains from the embarrassment just because it was bringing shame and embarrasment to so many other normal, quiet people. I wish I was kidding.

Back in the early days, it was the case of many to be a bit embarrased (in a good way, if that makes sense?) about watching the show, being waaaay out of the target demographic. I remember that when I told Maurice about the show I was threading extremely lightly, even though at the time I've known him for quite a while. That kind of attitude I miss of the general fandom population.

Of course, the reputation's tainted irrepairably by now. Only time will slowly patch it up.

*This is entirely hypothetical. I hope.
