Ok. So i have had this on my mind for a while, wondering if this really belongs here too,
WHY THE F*** IS EVERYONE SCARED OF AUSTRALIA!? I'm asking here because you guys will give actual decent responses.
I mean they say its because of all the dangerous animals and stuff. But i live in Australia and ive only ever seen 1 live snake with my own eyes. And all these dangerous animals either live in the middle of nowhere or the water. so like what gives.
Also why the hell do lots of people think Australia is just one big desert, seriously theres bushland plains and mountains and shit.
Lets Talk Australia.

Basically Australia was made official when the English killed all the natives and sent our people over. Only unlike america where there was plenty of fertile land and such, they couldn't find any. So the entire place was used as a prison. This is why the cockney accent is so close to the Austrian one. However they made good lives for themselves as well as their own beer and famously built an opera house in one of the few habitable places. Tourists came to see it and where blown away by giant rabbits that behaved like foxes and spiders that where slightly bigger. Then Steve Irwin made a living off showing tourists these creatures until everyone in the world was scared of giant man eating spiders.

People think shit of some countries when they don't know much about it. I know Australia isn't a big desert full of wild animals, but lots of people do.
Don't people think that here in Brazil is just a big forest full of wild animals and that all Brazilians are just monkeys? They forget that there's much more than forest here, and that calling us "monkeys" is racism.
Anyway, I once met a girl from Australia when I travelled to Rio. And I must say: she was really pretty. And she was not a kangoroo...

It should be pointed out there is a lot of places with only wildlife in whereas other countries have less.
Especially considering size.
Population Density:
UK: 255.6/km2
Australia: 2.8/km2

In england we hunted anything mildly dangerous to extiction and kept the rest as pets. Nothing that (isn't a human, or human made thing) is going to kill me. This is why it's a little jarring to hear about the australian wildlife, where about half of it has the potential to kill you.
It's just not a concept we're used to, so in most people's minds, it translates to "oh god everyone in australia is literally seconds from death at all times". And I guess having the biggest spiders in the world doesn't help your case, as many people are terrified of spiders too.
