Actually, I love that game, too. It'd be awesome to see that happen, but it'd have to be a SMWar reskin unless Camewel switches gears to make this (I think he has a more Street Fightery game in mind for fightyourself) or another coder wants to make it.
a reskin of this to smw doesn`t seem that tough. but indeed it would be neat to have original code for this. Map ideas for this thing would be tough though, unless we use Twatter story inspired landscapes and a few places in poneyville, or princess Celestia`s castle, bonkos ship, RWLabs, Forest, Temple, City, Apocalypse city, Burning forest, Mari0 levels, Trosh the game landscape, Orthobot switcharoo level, Not pacman rotating level, Not tetris avoiding block level, Fighting ON the flying simulator ship?
So basically we're going to reskin Super Mario War. To participate, you need to have Super Mario War, of course. The original downloads are all down so you'll have to get it here if you don't have it.
Ways to contribute:
1. Make a skin for your character. Or more than one skin. We can have infinite skins so it doesn't matter.
2. Edit one of the graphics in the gfx folder.
3. Make a map/world/tour. These are also infinite.
Drone36 is going to put them all into the game.

Turret I'd suggest finding more tasks for yourself to do to really contribute to this thing (maybe try making some progress e.g. skin yourself before making a topic) otherwise your threads going to be a "make stuff for me and let me have credit" sort of thread.
Also I tried this with smbx and the thread just dropped out of the forum due to having no levels contributed (good job to everyone who told me to do it but when it came to actually contributing they were no where in sight) so don't get your hopes up about this being pulled off.
If this does pull through I'll definitely contribute to it.
When I saw Jorichi's post I thought "well hey that does look cool I could make that the mechanic instead it would be a good game feature" and then you go and do that.

2: I never said I wouldn't contribute myself but I cant art well so all I can do is maps which aren't very helpful at the moment
3: Camewel I would suggest replying to me so I can see that you plan to do this
3.5: Not that would matter though because I would be at school but the general idea is to help prevent what happened to my 'related topic' thread (couldn't fix thread because I was at school)
Also I know a few other tools that could help me mod the game and add more bits to it :p Heck, We might be able to mod it enough for it to be its own game. :p

Stabyourself Skin Editor(or SSE) program DONE!
This program is an image editor but with the SMW pallet ready for editing. the tool is powerful enough to simulate what your character will look like if it is affected by any pallet changing mechanics of smw!
Um, before i post my skin, which site should i use that doesnt convert my image to a jpg? i tried tinypic but it did the jpg thing.
EDIT: Also drone, you just slightly changed another SMW skin maker, so that it says stabyourself war skin editor instead of super skin editor, also you removed the menu colors and replaced it with gray, so why even do that?

its for our version! :D + im planning on continuing that guys work maybe and finish it up since he hasn't fixed it up since then. its a shame since its so close from being complete! and he hasnt finished it! + there are a few bugs i want to fix up that he left.
I`ve tried work arounds for this bug, no hope. the code is set to work with those pallettes only i were to get it to work i would have to add all the colors that exist into the editor or start from scratch. because the system only works with the pallete colors and can`t create its own color pallet.
Layman terms: you cant force the software to show colors it doesnt support (colors on SMW pallet are the only pallet colors used for the skin editor)+ if i made it do so it would require me to start from scratch.
on another note:
Magenta = transparent
dark magenta = grey
grey = Turns white during invincibility / respawning, turns black after respawning
red = team color
blue = complimentary team color
ect.
expirement with colors to get the shade you want! its almost like finger painting!(one could describe) wtill waiting for more users to join in.
If people want to see my sprite just say so i dont have the need to upload it because i can just add it to the game from here. but if you want to see just say so.

also that work around will make all other colors you add transparent, dunno if people would like that. I'm still seeing if i can make it ignore all other colors not on the pallet, but the coding only allows those colors so i might need to start from scratch.

in fact a better fix would be opening the skin editor, screenshot the pallet in the editor, and make a pallet out of it in gimp, and copy a blank magenta canvas to make your skin. or use the image turret gave in the spoilers
if any of you guys want to help re-texture the graphics just edit the items in the (smw-1.8-beta2-bin\gfx\packs\Classic) directory, i've already edited the teams menu and the pause menu so dont worry about that.

EDIT: the skin editor opened upi sgraff's Mario skin which uses colors not on the pallete! good job drone

sorry!, just edit the config file, it should open with notepad. and make the last opened skin 0smw.png and it should work. im working on that fix for that pallet issue sorry its taking a while. Anyways, once we`re done re-texturing we`ll get to map making, then sound packs because making a sound pack can be quite hard.
Turret if you cant get it fixed i`ll upload a fix.
btw anyone who has been helping will get added to title screen list of helpers and ect! hows that sound? :p
