I'm interested in finding some new music. What do you guys like?
I mainly like remixes of songs and punk/hip hop king of things. I know I'm a gangster.
So what do you think I should listen to, or what are your personal faves?

Honestly, I don't pick one thing and stick to it. I listen to music that I think is good.
Heck, if [insert stereotype bad band (JB, 1D, ect)] made a good song, I'd listen to it, and if one of my favorite bands made a bad song, I wouldn't listen to it.
Speaking of favorite bands, I have a top 5.
5. Weird Al Yanchovich (Sometimes I like his songs, sometimes I hate the same songs I just liked.)
4. Coldplay
3. The Killers
2. Blue October
1. Muse
I do like a lot of video game songs, I enjoy a good dubstep, some home music, and I even like this one Nickleback song.
So basically I like a variety of music types.

You can say that again... I love to listen to Portal fan-made musics (mostly Harry Callaghan's musics), because after them I feel a lot inspired for doing Portal stuff (like Mari0, for example).Mari0Maker wrote:I only listen to Video Game music/remixes. Rarely do I listen to something else.

I listen to some Christian music now and then but this is pretty much it for me too. Especially Sonic music, though I think you could have guessed that.Mari0Maker wrote:I only listen to Video Game music/remixes. Rarely do I listen to something else.

Dubstep, but mostly Liquid/Melodic/Female Vocal Dubstep/Chillstep. I don't really like dirty dubstep. It makes my head hurt. :(
Also Video Game Music/Remixes.

Hey, that's what I listen to when I'm not listening to music related to what I posted before. Was hoping someone clicked on the links to see I was talking about Rarity's voice actor... I love pony music so much!WillWare wrote:I listen to some Christian music now and then but this is pretty much it for me too. I'm pretty into TobyMac and MegaMan music right now.
What artist do you care for, willware? Since Christian music is pretty vague...

It's intentionally vague, since I usually just listen to whatever comes on K-LOVE. I really like the old Newsboys, though.BobTheLawyer wrote:Hey, that's what I listen to when I'm not listening to music related to what I posted before. The problem with K-Love (and the whole radio for that matter) is that they always replay the same songs over and over again.
I still listen to it, though...

I like all of those guys, except Bon Jovi because I've never heard him.
I hope you guys are listening to the music we recommend.

the majority of video game music/christian music/artists you listed aren't good. I mean Weird Al is literally satire, and I don't find his music funny :V Billy Joel isn't a good song writer, and I find his stuff boring. Bon Jovi is stereotypical glam metal/hair metal type stuff which should have died in the 80s. Don't even get me started with fan music.

What about blue October? Or the Killers? Or Muse? Or Barenaked ladies? Or Coldplay? What you said was not majority.

Coldplay, the Killers, and Muse felt like they have just been riding off of the popularity train Radiohead made with albums like OK Computer and Kid A, and haven't been that much original beyond that. I'll admit I haven't listened to Barenaked Ladies or Blue October, though.TheJonyMyster wrote:What about blue October? Or the Killers? Or Muse? Or Barenaked ladies? Or Coldplay? Ok, I've got no idea what your talking about for muse/Coldplay/the killers.
Not that I'm saying you're wrong, I just really have no idea what you meant by that.
(I don't look into music as much as some people.)
However, I HIGHLY reccomend Blue October. I've only heard one Barenaked ladies song and it was good, but that's not enough backup for a recommendation.
Seriously, find some Blue October songs and listen to them.
Some notable examples are “Into the Ocean”, “The Chills”,
“The Getting Over It Part”, “Ugly Side”, and “The Feel Again (Stay)”.
There are many other great Blue October songs, but that's good to get you started.
Or if you want, you can listen to the album “Foiled”, “Foiled for the Last Time”, or maybe both.
Or just listen to all of his songs.

Not as much as yours. I like how you prefer to notice that portion of my post and argue on it rather than join in topic discussion.Camewel wrote:honesst question: could this sentence be any more pretentious?drone36 wrote:Just ignore Lawnboy, he seems to be more critical of music rather than to listen to it for what it truly is.
anyway more on that list I was making for anyone that likes classic rock:
Scars On Broadway - Insane
Scorpions - The Zoo
Serj Tankian - Orca Act II (if you like orchestral type music),Cornucopia , or Harakiri (if you like rock)
The Stranglers - Golden Brown (Classical style smooth rock)
Supertramp - Breakfast in america
Ted Nugent - Dog eat Dog
Most people already know System of a Down, so I'm not listing them.
The Turtles - Happy Together
The Zombies - She's not there (smooth lounge organ type rock, IF its rock at all.)
I'll get more from my list soon, I just thought I'd put songs out there to see if any of you liked any.

I'm typically a super happy person, and don't find myself sad or negative very often, but yet I cannot for the life of me write a "happy" song. Like even the one time I wrote a song that was somewhat happy it was still a minor key and other technical stuff like that. Funny.
Right now I'm listening to the Cave Story soundtrack and some of Danny B's songs. Danny Baranowsky is like my all time favorite composer by the way. I do tend to have like 2000+ songs on my iPod though, I just grab on to them in small amounts for a while.

I went back through like 3 pages looking for this thread.
Yup.
I feel guilty over downloading youtube video's audio to get the music that I want. (and put them on my 3DS)
I mean, I don't really have the money to buy some of them- and others are just not on the iTunes store.
On a side note though, I'm starting to enjoy Daft Punk's Random Access Memories.

I sometimes listen to caffie radio
Its not on air all the time though and its run by 9 smwc members
But I think its pretty good
There isn't a certain genre since each dj has their own tastes and really depends which dj is mixing
Heres there website:

I'm also on my phone right now so if this post looks weird blame that

I listen to whatever I like hearing.
If we're talking about music groups or bands or something, Goldfish is my favorite. Gotta love Three Second Memory, Fort Knox, and Soundtracks and Comebacks.
Other than that, VG music. Like Pac-Man: Championship Edition DX or Line Rider 2:

I highly suggest trying some heavy metal and screamo... My top five bands are:
Metallica (try something like The God Who Failed and Master Of Puppets)
A Day To Remember (the album, Common Courtesy, has soft songs)
Black Veil Brides, Bullet For My Valentine and some DragonForce is also good. Want something softer? Nirvana, Tenacious D and Korn (I guess) is also acceptable for people who don't really like heavy heavy.
If you don't like the music I listen to, then that is your opinion. I really won't care.
