Doubt I'd even get one. But I think if I were to, I'd wait for the price to drop.Pyrosaur wrote:The recent Nintendo Direct conference in Japan has finally revealed the latest details for the Wii U, including the prices and release dates.

They're not going to do the same thing they did with 3DS…
I'll wait till Christmas.

I have actually finally started to like Nintendo less than I used to. Part of this is the New Super Mario Bros. series. Seriously, guys. You can make a new asset sometime, right? Maybe introduce a unique idea? Right? Right?
Anyway, the Wii U's design doesn't really make sense to me. It's a touchscreen controller and a console. That's weird. i seriously don't get it.
I'm gonna get something else (maybe the Ouya) and expand my experience with video games.

I may get one, only because my Wii stopped reading disks, and Nintendo's cleaner didn't work.

who the F*ck cares if it can run game cube games,
most of the people who care have a gamecube or wii anyway so why bother.

The only thing that bothers me is that I now have six consoles hooked to one TV to be able to play my favorite games... Had to get another (older) tv for my extra Nes and Snes for the zapper and scope games which don't work on flat screens.xXxrenhoekxXx wrote:who the F*ck cares if it can run game cube games,

Besides I don't understand what's so hard about making it compatible...

Ha, it's okay. I actually like having all these consoles. However sometimes switching one or hooking one up gets annoying with that black rubber spaghetti fest behind my TV XD. Besides not everyone is a collector...

I'm wandering if they're going to put game cube titles on the wii u online shop thing, because there's a few games that I never got a chance to get for my gamecube.

The only way to make a system completely backwards compatible with another older console is to include the hardware of that console into your new system. The Wii has a GameCube inside it, and when you boot a gamecube game, it shuts down all the Wii stuff (such as the USB ports) and switches the CPU and GPU to the gamecube ones inside. Emulation is a bad idea as no emulation is perfect and you can end up with all sorts of horrible glitches (PS3 I'm looking at you here).Jorichi wrote:Besides I don't understand what's so hard about making it compatible...

I actually thought it was software that made it possible.

we just established that the gamecube was built inside of the wii, not emulating.Camewel wrote: The only way to make a system completely backwards compatible with another older console is to include the hardware of that console into your new system. The Wii has a GameCube inside it.

Okay, Turret. Listen carefully:
The Wii has the hardware of a gamecube so it can play those games. However, take those parts out and the Wii games still play.
The Wii-U has the hardware of a Wii WITHOUT the hardware of the gamecube built into it, so the Wii-U will play Wii games, but not Gamecube.
So therefore, the Wii-U won't play Gamecube games you have on disc.
And to my knowledge, the newer models of the Wii actually removed the Gamecube support anyway, so I'm sure Nintendo's not planning on adding GC support to the Wii-U.
