I created a concept character (with a little help from Renhoek) to practice some Digital Painting:
Image
Bigger size image: here. (and that's 50% of its original size)
Feel free to give some constructive criticism, it only helps me out.
For everyone who asks how long the chains took I will go out an punch an innocent girl in her face.
I have my next image for practicing digital painting already in mind, but I'm gonna wait until my new drawing equipment arrives.
Though I'm always open to suggestions for new drawings.

draw a box
EDIT: with a smiley face drawn on it
EDIT2: not with the circle around it, just the eyes and the mouth

Yeah, also the left knee is larger than the right knee.

Jony I think your amazing quality posts like that are art just by themselves, in case anyone says that post was off topic or whatever :)
Seriously, you even use the enter button for natural pauses in talking
Reminds me of me

I'm doing it right now
The funny part is that I honestly didn't even realize I was until I said "Ha"

EDIT: AARRRGGHH now that WAS a ninja :/

Thanks guys! Much appreciated.
I kind of agree with the knees now that it's been pointed out. I didn't sit too much on the design itself, I wanted something (that's not a pony for a change) to practice painting on. But if I continue with characters like this I'll keep that in mind.

It was the gear, wasn't it? The thing she's holding is a gear attached to a hookshot. Don't question it, it's just a concept for fun.

i will question it because i like that concept for fun
how does it work
this could be a game
about fixing things
the game would be called The Fixer
and does this character have a name yet because i have one

She doesn't have a name. I wanted to give her one but couldn't think of a good one.
The idea of her "weapon" is that she could hookshot onto a ceiling for example to create a 'chandelier' type platform with the cog to swing across gaps.
The cog-end could function to activate certain contraptions. For example she'd put the cog end into a machine and turn it by 'whipping' the chain end.
Her moveset for both combat and puzzle-platformer could go long ways with this. I also had in mind that she could leave the hookshot/cog behind for puzzle-solving elements or something. I didn't really think more about it than this...

Putting this here because I consider it a work of art. If others don't I'll just move it to the chat room or something. Maybe start a thread speculating it's features. Not much else has been leaked regarding its release.

Name suggestion:

Cognita Chains

Because Cheney was taken by some Dick. (A politician or something of course.)

Other:
I`d like to thank you guys for keeping this thread alive. I really apreciate all the art (Most of the art) that gets posted here :) . I truly didn`t think this thread would become this popular.

Art Critique: Jorichi`s Concept art

The character looks very good. The color scheme matches the character well. The shading and perspective could have been worked on a bit better. I`ve seen other art pieces by you, I know that you can do better.
Keep at it! The legs on her kinda look like pony legs now that I figure it.

Score:
9 Crisp paper monies out of 1/2 a soggy paper money.

Focus point:
Work on perspective a tad more, the knees seem a bit off to me. One knee seems bigger than the other and so do the eyes. maybe its just me.

And would like to thank you for creating this thread. I just love seeing drawings and other various creations from other people.

And thanks for the critique Drone, it helps a lot!
I dropped the ball on the knee. It isn't really to blame on perspective or anything, I just fucked up.
Though perspective did fail several other points.
I was planning to focus more on perspective on my next image though, so I will make sure that everything goes right from the start.
I still have to master the painting technique and shading, but that's why I'm learning. I'm gonna give it my best next time!

That drawing is awesome jorichi, the only thing that seems a bit off(other than the knee others noticed) is the lighting/shading, even if i couldn't tell exactly what's "wrong" with it.

Some time ago i found this drawing I made(not original, it's a char from Bloody Roar 4) something like 10 years ago(i was 14-15).
Eyes, mouth and hair are a bit f'd up, but the source image wasnt exactly big, and i probably finished them in a rush.

Very impressive for being 10 years ago. I wonder how well you`ve gotten since then! Who knows.
I should keep drawing. .. I`ve taken too many breaks from art. I need to post something atleast. I wanna see my weakpoints so i can get fixing them sooner. I`ll post something soon hopefully.

Art Critique: Bloody roar 4 draft by The Seek

I have an image pulled up on the character for reference :p , and honestly enough, I see the resemblance. Very good eye you have for referencing points on a character. I would love to see more works or more recent work from you. Also, if you have any digital artwork (photoshop, gimp ect.) to post that would be astoundingly awesome. Overall, good piece. The only miniscule down side I could see would be to work a bit more on textures. The hair seems a little more flowy on the image I have (which looks similar to yours), and yours looks a bit frizzy-ish. Your art piece is really well done otherwise.

Sorry I haven`t posted anything yet. Nice picture Costin i like the HD version just as good as the old one. Well, Here`s my excuse for not posting any art yet:

A few days ago, my little bro got sick. His symptoms were: vomiting, stomach ache, headache.
The next day: he felt better, but now my mom, dad and me, have the sickness, I havent puked. I rarely do, extremely rarely. my mom got it worse, my dad is managing. Later that same day my aunt calls, and mentioned they were also sick, with the same symptoms. This might be a small epidemic or bad food case. either way I`m getting better-ish. take care everyone, be watchful for any food recalls or ect.

Yes, it's a lollipop. I made it this wide because it felt WAY too thin otherwise.

Only thing I could criticise is the left shoe looks a bit lopsided, though it might be just because the pants sort of blend with the shoe.
Nonetheless, great work, Jorichi.

Original size

You guys have NO IDEA of how long it took me to do this. Specially the 3D scenery and the final effects.

I'll try to use it as my new avatar. Idiot's one is good, but let Idiot have his own avatar instead of having always someone else trying to copy it to make a fad...

Ah, just for curiosity: I used SketchUp Pro 8 to make this scenery, but in other images I used SketchUp 8.
That's why this one has shadows...
