OK so here it is

Mari0: Released: March 3rd 2012, 1,000,000 downloads: 03 April 2012
Minecraft: Released*: May 17, 2009, 1,000,000 BUYS: January 12-14th 2011 1,000,000 REGISTERS: ~April 24th 2010

So I can't really compare them since Minecraft costs money.

So:

Mari0 DLs compared to Minecraft BUYS: The delay between release and 1,000,000 DLs of mari0 is 31 days! MC's BUYS is ...

There are two obvious differences here.
a) These are not unique downloads (I think) so every new version is a crapton more downloads.
b) Minecraft didn't have a hype-filled buildup to release, it just quietly came out.

your right I probably wouldn't have joined the forums here if the game didn't have so much hype.

keep in mind minecraft has had a HUGE amount of popularity in
magazines, popular youtube channels, websites, shirts, and even TV...

looks like minecrafts not gonna be number 1 game on the web anymore :)

well... this is the amount of downloads of ALL Versions of Mari0... i've Downloaded Mari0 about 6 times... MineCraft you only buy once...
