Yeah Turret's not so bad any more.
FP returned from the permaban because he was persistent. Most people just leave after they've been permabanned, but some people hang around, still watching the community, getting in contact with the admins, trying to get unbanned. These people often end up being pretty good members.

Great news, I beat Persona 3... okay, it's not really great news, because I still have the answer to complete.

Wow, that's... why would you make it like that. Are you making that the new archive, or is that an optional index from now on?

Soo... Me and my friends decided to roleplay for the first time (well I had some knowledge of it from Dungeons and Twatter). We're only 3, and that's too bad, (just 2 playing because 1 has to be Dungeon Master). I wasn't sure where exactly to put this, so I decided it would do no harm in the Chat Room, right?
But if anyone cares (probably no one), here is the story so far. I am Cistub, and my friend is Dhurem. There are some grammar mistakes here and there I think... But nothing to disturb the eye too much. I was thinking maybe some of you will look over it, most of you enjoy awesome stories. If you wonder what's up with the 1-6 yes 6-10 no or stuff like that, we used random.org to generate a random number which decides the choice. If the number is between 1 and 6, the answer is yes, and if it's between 6 and 10, the answer is no.
Also, the inventory is updated for the current part of the story. The starting inventory(for each of us) was: 1 apple, one 10ft rope, 3 sticks (and special for me, poison). Also, I had 4 kunai daggers which would act as throwing daggers.

=========================================================================
Dhurem and Cistub are entering the Dungeons. No one has come back from the dungeon so far. They sent Cistub and Dhurem down here as a punishment. Their only chance of coming back to the overworld is to find the amulet deep down in the dungeon. There is no other way in which they can get back up. The enterance is sealed off. Two brave souls shall either die in terrible pain or find the way up. Good luck adventurers.
As the two adventurers enter the dungeon, they start descending a poorly lit corridor, down some stone mossy stairs. Straight ahead is a drop about 12 foot deep (twice the size of a normal person). Will you try jumping down into a nearly black hole or use something else?
"We could use a rope from our inventory!" says Cistub.
''Yeah!Tie it to a stair and let's get going!'' replies Dhurem.
Cistub takes out the rope from his bag and ties it to a rock coming out of the ground. He checks for its strength and climbs down. He has no problems going down here. Torches are lit along the passage ahead. Dhurem climbs down the rope. He slips when he is near the end. CISTUB AGILITY CHECK ABOVE 5. Cistub catches Dhurem from falling down too hard. The rope can not be taken back, so they leave it here. CISTUB LOSE ROPE.
The two continue down the passage. A sarcophagus' lid falls off. CISTUB AND DHUREM GAIN BUFF SCARED. -1 Intellect for 2 turns. A zombie slowly but surely lowers himself from his position. He is holding a rusty shortsword. He is wearing a chain mail vest. His flesh is rotten.
Undead Warrior
95/95 HP
Skills: Basic attack. Rend - Causes bleed damage for 2 rounds after rend. Bleed causes 5 damage per turn. Can be stopped by bandages.
Turns: AGILITY CHECK. Both numbers are equal. The first person to go is random. Dhurem goes first, then cistub, then zombie. 1 turn per person.
Dhurem Health: 110/110
Cistub Health: 106/106
Dhurem uses thousandfold strike. He hits the Undead warrior in the left shoulder, chest and stomach. The Zombie staggers, but seems pretty much unfased by the hits to his armoured body. Undead loses 25hp. Cistub sneaks around his back. He plunges both daggers into the lungs of the undead. He seems not to care much for the loss of breath, as he doesn't need to breath anyway. However he is badly bleeding. UNDEAD DEBUFF -5hp/turn. Cistub inflicted 24 damage to the undead. Undead has 47/95 hp. Undead lifts his sword and strikes Dhurem. The blade skims over Dhurem's skin, dealing 2 damage to Dhurem. The undead stumbles and falls down. He is getting up. It is now your turn again.
Dhurem Health: 108/110
Cistub Health: 106/106
The undead loses 5 health from the bleeding. He now has 42/95 hp. Dhurem tries to use thousandfold strike again. Exhausted from his recent actions, he strikes the undead twice. He deal 4damage x2. The undead now has 34 health. The zombie is struck in the neck. He falls down again, face flat on the floor. Cistub plunges his dagger into the zombies back. Critical strike! He deals 39 damage. The zombie is struck in the heart. He is now dying. He is losing 30 hp/ turn. The zombie stops squirming around and a pool of blood forms around him. You can now loot his body or move forward. What do you want to do?
"Let's loot him!"
The zombie has a chain mail vest. You could wear it, but it is so heavy it would slow you down (-2 agility). Do you wish to take it? The sword is rusted beyond use.
"I don't really want that chainmail vest."
COMBINED INTELLECT CHECK: Required 8. Cistub - 2 + Dhurem - 4 = 6. Check failed.
You move away from the corpse, not even glimpsing at the sarcophagus. A sack of 26 gold coins is there. You move down the passage. Water is dripping from the ceiling. You have 2 ways to go. Left or right. The way left is dark and wet. The way right goes down into the abyss but is well lit and warm. Which way do you chose to go?
"It seems like the abyss seems well lit and warm, but it may be a trap. I say we move left."
"Agreed"
As soon as you move in a few metres into the left way you trip over a wire. A giant stone slab falls down and blocks the right way. A few seconds later another slab of stone blocks the way you came in. Now your only choice is to go forward. A torch is sitting in its rest. Its slightly damp, but it might be a good idea to take it with you in case you might need it later. Who will take the torch?
D: "I will take it.The light brings me closer to the truth."
C: "I do hope it's not a trap"
Cistub steps back, and waits for Dhurem to pick it up.
Dhurem stashes the torch into his leather bag. There was no trap. However, you have been down here for a while. Cistub feels peckish. He has not eaten since yesterday. Continue or eat your apple?
Cistub decides he should ration his apple, so he eats a quarter.
You continue down the passage. The passage is getting narrower, not by a big amount, but noticeable. You arrive at an open room. You walk in, but the room is trapped! You step over a stone. Poisonous darts jet out one side of the wall. Thanks to your high agility, both of you drop down on the floor. The trap clicks again, but it is empty. A skeleton is sitting next to a wall where the dart landed. Poor soul. Maybe he had something of use to you? Before you can finish your thought a sarcophagus door comes off. The noise made by the big slab of stone falling on the stone floor probably woke the dead. In fact, it did. Out of the sarcophagus, an unusually fat zombie comes out. His disfigured face moves and blood drips from his mouth. He says "You are doomed", or you think so. His jaw is hanging down, which makes him unable to speak well. He heads towards you.
Combat
Dhurem Health: 108/110
Cistub Health: 106/106
Fat zombie: 160/160
Abilities: Basic attack, Vile Bile - Vomits on the opponent, causing him to be covered in green bile and sticky saliva. Unpleasant and has side effects.
Turns: Cistub, Dhurem, Fat Zombie.
Cistub is amazed by the size of the zombie. He thinks fast, slicing his belly, hoping that he will lose all his green bile. He then sneaks around and waits in his back. AGIL CHCK: 5. Passed. Cistub slices his belly, the zombies guts spill out. Gripping at his intestines and pushing them back, Dhurem kicks the zombie. Dhurem's foot sinks into the zombies insides. He screams out in disgust and the zombie panics. His foot is stuck. The zombie falls over Cistub and knocks him down on the floor. Dhurem is dragged along. The zombie panics and vomits the green bile over himself, cistub underneath him and Dhurem. The zombie loses 95 health and starts to panic, intensifying the bleeding caused by the sliced belly. Cistub can no longer breath under the zombie. He needs to get out in 2 turns or else he will start to suffocate. Cistub cannot attack. He can only use his hands to try grab things.
Fat zombie: 65/160
Dhurem pulls at his knee. His knee comes free, along with some of the zombies insides. He gains debuff panic and loses the ability to think straight. He moves to cistub, desperately tugging at his arm to get him out. Cistub pulls on Dhurem's arm. He slides out under the zombie's back. The zombie slides around the room, leaving green bile where he goes. He finally starts to get up. This is a good opportunity. Dhurem loses debuff panic and turns are reset.
Fat zombie: 65/160
Turns: Cistub, Dhurem, Fat Zombie.
Cistub: "Fast, try confusing him by running around!"
Cistub waits for the right moment to backstab him. Dhurem runs around the monster. The monster seems to be confused, not by the fact that Dhurem is running so fast to confuse him, but purely by the face that the silly human is running circles for no reason. Dhurem steps over the stone that activates the dart trap. The trap is empty, but the tile moves down and Dhurem trips and falls down. Cistub stabs the monster in the back of the neck, severing his spine. The monster crumbles and falls down. Dhurem fell down pretty hard. His knee hurts, but he can still walk. -1 Agility until bandaged.
Dhurem has debuff of -1 agility. Total agil: 5.
You now have two corpses to loot. Which one do you loot first? The dead zombie or the skeleton of the adventurer?
Cistub doesn't care about the looting, for his friend is in peril, he cuts a bit of his black cape from the cloak, and he wraps it around Dhurem's knee.
Cistub:"Let's loot the Skeleton, I say"
Dhurem:"Thank you,Cistub.Let's loot the skeleton."
Cistub ties the cloak around Dhurem's knee. It is flimsy and not as good as a real bandage. but it will do for now. Dhurem loses the debuff of -1 agil. Total agil now: 6. He did lose some health when he fell down. -6 hp Dhurem.
Dhurem Health: 102/110
Cistub Health: 106/106
You move closer to the skeleton. He has a leather bag around his neck. Cistub leans over and opens it. A lizard jumps out of the skeleton's eye socket. AGIL CHCK: 10. Check failed. The lizard leaps on Cistub's face. Cistub runs around helplessly slapping his own face. Dhurem sighs and drops down to take the loot. The bag contains 1 rotten apple and 4 gold coins. Do you wish to take them?
Dhurem takes 1 rotten apple and 4 gold coins.
Cistub goes to the sarcophagus. Dhurem checks the zombie. He turns away at the sight of guts spilled everywhere and the disfigured face of the zombie. There is not much you can take from the zombie. The clothes are slimy and stuck against his body. You catch a glimpse of something round inside his stomach that is almost transparent thanks to the light provided by torches on the walls. Do you want to try his stomach or leave it there for the fear of what you will find?
Dhurem throws a torch on the stomach of the zombie. It will take some time to burn through the stomach.
Meanwhile, cistub is searching the sarcophagus. Nothing appears to be in it. He looks behind it but there is nothing there. He walks away but INTEL CHECK: Required 4. Failed. Only 2. He moves away and misses the shine of a diamond embedded into the sarcophagus. He goes over to the improvized campfire of a torch lit above a stomach. You both feel hundgry. What do you do?
Dhurem gives 2 biscuits to cistub and eats 2 himself. Dhurem eats his biscuits. They are delicious! Cistub roasts the dry biscuits on a fire. They are burnt a bit, but he still eats them. The biscuits would've tasted better if they weren't burnt... Dhurem recovers 4 hp. Cistub feels homesick. The taste of burnt biscuit isn't very welcome. They both stare at the burning stomach. Dhurem kicks it and a round shiny gold coin comes out. Dhurem picks it up and puts it into his bag. Do you wish to continue along the passage or search this room for more?
Dhurem Health: 106/110
Cistub Health: 106/106
"I don't think we should waste even more time here, but you should go search the sarcophagus too, just in case I missed something, I'm going to search the walls, or the darts for anything useful."
Dhurem looks at the sarcophagus. He doesn't notice anything. He quickly turns around and dismisses the empty sarcophagus which is obviously empty. The torch that caused the diamond to shine was removed when he burnt the stomach. However thanks to his natural perception he notices the diamond. He tries to take it out but it is obviously stuck there. Whoever put it there didn't intend for a regular tomb robber to feast on the riches of the dungeon. He calls Cistub over and asks him how to get the diamond out. What do you do?
Cistub gets his knife out and puts it between the rock and the diamond. He pulls at it. The dagger bends slightly. Do you want to force it and risk breaking a dagger or do you want to give up?
LUCK CHECK: 4 Luck. 1-4 gets the diamond out. 6-10 breaks the dagger. Do you want to force it?
Cistub gets out a kunai and replaces it with the dagger. He pulls at the kunai but the much weaker weapon snaps before he even pulls with his full strength. Do you want to keep this broken kunai or throw it away? Do you want to try with your stronger dagger and a LUCK chck or leave the diamond there?
Luck CHCK: 1
The knife snaps the diamond out with ease. Upon closer inspection the diamond turns out to be a sapphire. The sapphire is perfectly cut on the top but the bottom is jagged. This will reduce the value to about 75gold. Yet still any vendor will appreciate this sapphire, about the size of your thumb's nail. Cistub puts the sapphire into his bag. What do you do next? Search the room or continue down the passage?
Cistub and Dhurem continue down the passage. The stairs descend furhermore into the darkness. The passage widens, the ceiling is dripping with water. You look at the ceiling to see the dripping water. You catch a glimpse of a figure in the dark. You gain the BUFF ADRENALINE +2 AGIL. Total Agil = 8. The figure leaps at you! A noose is loosely hanging around its neck, as if the figure has been hanged. He has a black sack over his head, masking his whole face. He is very skinny and agile. AGIL CHCK: 7. You have 8. Passed. You push Dhurem and you dive down for cover. The figure misses you but he gets up and faces you.
Combat
Gheist
skills: Basic attack. Claws - Basic attacks have a chance to cause bleeding. Leap - Leap to a target to knock him down and savagely attack him. Passive agility - This monster has very high agility. +5 agil. This monster always goes first.
Gheist HP: 340/340
Dhurem Health: 106/110
Cistub Health: 106/106
Turns: Gheist, Dhurem, Cistub.
Gheist leaps in front of Cistub and attacks him. His hands slap cistub harmlessly across the face, but the gheist surges to the left in a spasm and knocks Dhurem over. Dhurem loses his turn. The Gheist attacks cistub again, this time his arm is scratched, his hand is bleeding and his black vestments are ripped. He does not gain a bleeding debuff however, but loses 16hp.
Dhurem Health: 106/110
Cistub Health: 90/106
Cistub thinks fast, with enough strenght, he gets the skinny creature off him and with the given agility runs and fades into the darkness. While the Gheist looks around and turns to Dhurem, Cistub leaps out and throws both daggers near Dhurem: "CATCH!"
He then catches the monster's noose and keeps him like a dog in leash. "FINISH HIM!"
Dhurem catches a dagger, but the other dagger cuts his hand and falls down on the floor. Dhurem now has -1 STR because of an open wound on the hand of his palm. Total STR now: 4. He Gets up and cuts the neck of the Gheist. The gheist bleeds profoundly all over Dhurem and the floor. An artery was severed. The rope surrounding his neck was also cut. Cistub falls over from the sudden release of the force he was holding back. The bleeding gheist jumps over Dhurem. Dhurem runs around as the gheist slaps his head. Finally the gheist stops moving and falls on the floor. The gheist loses 340 HP from the severed artery. Adrenaline fades from cistub. -2 AGIL. Dhurem's wound starts bleeding.
Dhurem Health: 106/110 - Wounded hand: -1 str. Bleeding. -2 HP/turn.
Cistub Health: 90/106
What now?
Cistub searches for the ripped clothes. He finally finds them and wraps Dhurem's wounds as fast as possible. He gets his apple out and gives it to his friend.
"Here buddy, have this!"
"Cheers,mate!"
Dhurem eats the apple and gets the WELL FED buff. He wraps the cloth around his wound. He no longer has bleeding or -1 str. He still loses -2HP from the bleed while he wraps his hand.
Dhurem Health: 104/110 - Well fed. +1 STR (6 total now)
Cistub Health: 90/106
You continue down the tunnel, with a pure sense of hatred for the ceiling and all its inhabitants. Any movement of bats or rats crawling along the top of the ceiling sets you off. You gain the frustrated debuff.
Dhurem Health: 104/110 - Well fed. +1 STR (6 total now) - Frustrated
Cistub Health: 90/106 - frustrated
You come to an area where a bridge is haning over a massive drop. The drop must be of around 20feet. Wouldn't kill you, but a bone crushing drop still. The bridge looks usable. It strethes out for about 10 metres. What do you do? Could you reinforce the bridge somehow to make it more stable and sacrifice some supplies or walk across it. Dherum gains the fear debuff. Cistub manages to hold his nerves from now and gets to work. What do you do?
Dhurem Health: 104/110 - Well fed. +1 STR (6 total now) - Frustrated - Fear
Cistub Health: 90/106 - frustrated
LUCK COMBINED chance: Cross bridge without reinforcement - 1-6 success 7-10 possible that the bridge may break.
Cross with reinforcements - 1-8 sucess 9,10 - possible that the bridge may break.
You chose it would be wiser to reinforce the first 2 supports of the bridge. You use a piece of cloth that you find on the ground to tie the sticks to the poles and seat the in between the cracks of the solid rock floor. You feel anxious. Who goes first across the bridge?
Cistub choses to go first. He is lightweight and should have a better chance at crossing.
LUCK CHECK: 7
Cistub crosses without as much as a creak. It is now Dhurem turn to cross. He steps on the first wooden step and the bridge creaks. Do you go on?
Cistub ties Dhurem's rope to a rock on the other side to help Dhurem cross. Dhurem goes on. At the middle of the bridge he looks down and freezes in place.
LUCK CHECK: 9. Failed. The wooden step his first foot is stepping on snaps in half and drops into the abyss. Dhurem hold on to the rope for dear life. You now have to step over that piece of wood. Do you go back or cross?
Dhurem crosses. There is no turning back. He is 2 metres away from the other side. The pylons that haven't been reinforced snap. Cistub rushes forward to grab his hand. Before the bridge falls down you might be able to jump. You gain adrenaline buff. +2. Fear and frustration fade from Dhurem.
AGIL CHCK: 8. Required 10. Dhurem doesn't have enough time to jump, but he holds on to the rope and cistub grabs his other hand. He pulls him up to the other side. There are 2 ways to go. Left or right?
Dhurem Health: 104/110
Cistub Health: 90/106
Well fed fades. Adrenaline fades from Dhurem.
They both go the right way. You walk on for about 5 minutes. The passage is claustrophobic and the ceiling feels opressive. As if it is sinking on you. The the horrible realization strikes you.
The ceiling IS falling down.
With about 2 metres before it comes crashing down squishing you, you might have about 2 minutes before you die. A horrible death, your bones crushed, your organs squished. You run ahead, hoping to come out of this passage. You start feeling warm... you look behind you. A wall of all-consuming fire is heading your way. And the exit to this tunnel of death is seen ahead. Incinirated and crushed. You come out with seconds to spare, but Dhurem's bag is caught by a branch emering from a wall.
Do you chose to go back for it and risk being incinirated? It looks like the exit won't close in time so you will have to move further ahead to advoid being burnt to a crisp. Who will go, if anyone?
Cistub choses to go. He tries to cut the branch. This would take longer than simply breaking the branch, but the branch still comes off. The bag however slides off as he takes the branch off. The contents spill out. Cistub dives for cover. The ball of fire comes out of the tunnel as the door closes. Cistub hasn't been burned, but the contents of the bag are everywhere. The rope is burnt and no longer of use. You leave it there along with the burnt 1 stick and rotten apple. The torch is now lit. Who will carry it?
Dhurem equips torch and puts 1 fist weapon into his inventory. He gathered the spilled content of his bag and puts them back in. They continue walking the corridor. Another open room. Two sarcophagus doors simultaneously open slowly but surely. A zombie carrying a great huge sword with a helmet on his head and light armor comes out and another carrying a shield and a mace comes out of the other. He is wearing normal cloth.
Combat.
Dhurem Health: 104/110
Cistub Health: 90/106
Greatsword zombie HP - 150
skills: Overhead smash - attempt to slice opponent in half with sword. This attack takes a lot of energy.
Sword and Shield zombie HP - 130
Skills: Block - Attempt to block attacks with a shield. Passive defence - This opponent cannot be backstabbed successfully.
Turns: Cistub, Sword and Shield zombie, Dhurem, Greatsword zombie.
Cistub dives right into the battle, making him vulnerable to attacks, like a bait, but he is ready to dodge any incoming attacks, counting that the sword and shield zombie would still be slow. He throws a kunai at the Greatsword Zombie.
Kunai goes for the zombie's left arm and implants itself in the zobmbies shoulder. The kunai deals 13 damage to the greatsword zombie and makes him stagger.
Mace and Shield zombie lifts his shield up and his mace in mid air, hitting cistub in the side. Cistub feels pain surge through him and holds his side. He loses 12 hp and falls down on his knees, holding his side until his next turn. He is now vulnerable to attacks.
Dhurem Health: 104/110
Cistub Health: 78/106
Greatsword zombie Health: 137
Dhurem pushes the kunai deeper into the zombies flesh, leaving himself exposed for an attack. Zombie loses 37 hp. The greatsword zombie lifts his sword up and is ready to slice through the top of Dhurem's head.
Dhurem Health: 104/110
Cistub Health: 78/106
Greatsword zombie Health: 100
What next?
Cistub gets up and slices the underside of the greatsword zombie's arms. The zombie starts bleeding profoundly and falls back down on his side. He is now losing blood at a rate of 10hp/second.
Cistub rolls over to the shield zombie and tries to kick him, but his kick is blocked by the shield.
The Shield zombie hits Dhurem across the head with his mace, knocking Dhurem out. Cistub sneaks behind and plants his dagger into the back of the shield zombie but he is swung around by the zombie and into a wall. The greatsword zombie is squirming on the floor, dying from his bleeding and he cannot get up. The shield zombie looks to knock Cistub out with his shield.
AGIL+STR CHECK: Required - 10. Total - 9. Cistub kicks at the monsters shin. He doesn't do it with enough strength and the zombie falls over him. Unpleasant, but now he can get up and finish him off. He swings the zombie over to the side. The zombie is now laying on top of the other zombie which is still moving. Cistub picks up the sword and puts his foot over the zombies. He plunges the greatsword into both zombies. Critical hit. 640 damage done.
Cistub gets it over with.
Dhurem Health: 1/110 - Unconcious
Cistub Health: 78/106 - Fear
Cistub leans back against a wall for a second to catch his breath and think about what happened. His hand hits a brick that goes back. He thinks he will fall to his death but he instead falls down on a soft floor. Grass everywhere. A small room with a statue of a God is in the middle of the room. Water is flowing from a crack in the wall. You can have a drink here. Stone benches are beside the statue. Cistub drags Dhurem here. A lever closes the wall from the inside. You are safe here. Dhurem will recover. you need sleep. You lay down on the bench and fall asleep. Hungry and cold, but you need rest. You will eat and drink tomorrow.

Win/lose ration against an average computer bot?
0 / 8. I've been playing for about an hour now, though I'm still not any better!

Not sure if it's going to help you in anyway, but I always start a strategy game, either be a video game or chess, by trying to capture the middle area. It's pretty much a overall good strategy, keep defending middle and pushing.. I guess.
Also, the Chess A.I can be a real prick most of the times. Try playing with some people too.
-edit-
Don't forget about the valor of the pieces either.
a peon = 1pts
a bishop/a knight = 2pts
a tower = 3pts
a queen = 4pts
a king = 9001pts
It's just an importance leaderboard, they don't actually worth points or stuff like that. It's in most chess books.

I have never seen that value system in my life. I'd gladly take your queen for 4 pawns.Costinteo wrote:Don't forget about the valor of the pieces either.

Sorry about the spelling... In my language pawn is actually "pion", that is mostly peon. I was too lazy to look up the spelling.
Apparently, I was wrong. I checked my old chess book again, and the value system goes like this:
Queen - 9pts
Tower - 5pts (hope I didn't screw this name too)
Bishop - 3pts
Knight - 3pts
Pawn - 1pts
And as I said:
Well you can always take your queen back by using just a pawn, right? (without interfering with any other pieces)Maurice wrote: I have never seen that value system in my life. I'd gladly take your queen for 4 pawns.

My Book translated by me wrote: There is no score in chess, but it's worth remembering the value of each piece; it helps you decide against what piece you should focus your attack on and which of your pieces could be sacrificed. All the pieces are important, but if you lose one with greater value, the danger of losing the game is higher.

Wikipedia wrote:The checkmate with the queen is the most important, but it is also very easy to achieve. It often occurs after a pawn has queened. The next most important one is the checkmate with the rook, and it is also very easy to achieve. The checkmates with the two bishops and with a bishop and knight are not nearly as important, since they only occur infrequently. The two bishop checkmate is fairly easy to accomplish, but the bishop and knight checkmate is difficult and requires precision.

Also, I like Idiot's new avatar. What's wrong with it?
It sends this powerful message: "Don't worry, be happy!"
Or:"Why so serious?"
All in all, it reminds me of this guy:
