as you wish, camewel the stubborn

edit for those re reading posts:
at this point using steam chat seems to be the norm while twitch chat is the one not used often so the argument below isn't so relevant anymore

Stubborn he may be but he has a point. It's freaking stupid.
(I realize when Maurice streams he does the same thing but he's got his stream embedded in the IRC which makes it okay)

The point is that it's stupid because it's useless.
Edit: Apparently you're using twitch's chat so it's fine.

I want you to imagine you#re visiting a friend's house. You don't really want to go but you're going anyway to be nice. They stop you on the doorstop and say, "Before you come in you must ring the doorbell 15 times!" You'd likely ask why, at which point they'd 'explain' why it makes total sense to ring the doorbell 15 times before entering a home, even going as far as to say that it's strange that no-one else does it. How often do you think you're going to visit this friend?

Well, boredom. I don't feel like doing my English paper right now. An hour or so of streaming begins here:

I'll visit him as often as regular oftenness is because I'm a good friend (assumingly) and I don't really mind because ringing the doorbell is barely even part of the time spent at his house and it's petty to not go over something insignificant like ringing a doorbell. Not that it matters though. You don't visit most of my streams anyway. Which makes sense using the analogy you don't visit someone's house every single day. But what makes even less sense is why I should cater to the one or two people who won't come to my house because I ask them to ring the doorbell 15 times.

Okay that analogy sucked from both ends. I'll just sum it up here:
It's easier to just keep the stream+chat in one spot just to make it easier on everyone. Bringing IRC makes it difficult since, unless you can integrate the stream window into it, causes constant switching of tabs/windows or stupidly laying out windows to view everything, which is stupid for Livestream viewing.
No one's forcing you to not use IRC, it's just many people won't view it if you use it. Best choice is either just stick with Twitch's chat or find some way to put the stream window in your IRC but it's ultimately up to you.

Now everyone shut up.

Why do you want so much to use IRC, instead of simply using Twitch's chat? It does everything you need!

I completely prefer the IRC too, just because of it's look and features (IRC definitely has more features than Twitch chat, and I'm also a lot more used to it). I wish there was a way to have the stream right next to #turretworkshop on like a website or something... there's probably a way to do that but I don't know much about IRCs.

There is. Maurice did it with his stream.
Though, he used webchat, which you can use #turretworkshop on but it doesn't have the good looks we all love.

Ok, I've tried embedding mibbit, but it don't seem to work great:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/ls8 ... ceHp0NYMHA I don't think mibbit like being embedded like that, we should find another Web IRC client, maybe.(I hacked the page at Sys.net/stream/ to make this)
The advantages of http://blog.mibbit.com/?p=1386 is that you only have one channel instead of 2. I vote for this.

Here's mine: http://www.twitch.tv/cr_bman99
I'm going to occasionally stream playing games (I'll take requests), coding things, Mari0, or whatever else I'm doing that people would be interested in
Sometime today I'm going to give this a try and play some Race The Sun (probably soon, I'll just update this post)

ALRIGHT
So after an insane debacle involving pointlessly switching settings around for 20 minutes, streaming black screen 4 times, and also accidentally streaming to Skye's Twitch account, I can finally stream and I know what my problem was
I didn't realize what OBS "scenes" were
I think I hurt myself laughing so hard...

EDIT: I'm streaming now. Not sure what I'm going to do but at least ti works now. Turret can you please add me to the main post? Thanks :)

With my web designer's help, (aka Pyromaniac's help (and Turret's help)) the two of us managed to do this:

http://turtlepuzzles.uphero.com/tstream.htm

This ought to be a good place to stream and chat

The site doesn't work with AT&T, and I don't know why.

Even though the main post has me under the gaming tab, I'm currently streaming me coding a Global project: appropriately named "GLADIATAHHH"
I'm basically making a Rome review game in Love2d where you're a gladiator and have to answer questions to survive.
Hopefully featuring a ton of *awesome* ways that you can die if you get it wrong.
The guy "NJ Holt" that you'll see me talking to on Skype is Vakema. He's helping out with art because I cannot art well.
Anything else that I do in the stream (background music, random stuff that isn't coding) will be based on whatever people say as I talk to them on the Twitch chat. If anyone is interested, feel free to watch :)

I really haven't coded in a while... this is going to be "interesting"
http://www.twitch.tv/cr_bman99

EDIT: Three hours later, I got a working animation clock, overall ended up with over 100 lines of code, and had a blast talking with all you friends at stabyourself. Thanks for watching (and helping, and talking about random stuff) those that did, and hopefully the ones who missed it can catch me next time. GLADIATAHHH! :)
» It's late. I'm gonna go watch some TV
» This was fun
» Hopefully I'll stream again sometime soon
» Have a nice night
...Yeah next time I'm going to try to actually spend the majority of the time being productive xD

Also, you said that like it was a hard work.

Just started streaming coding because of Mari0Maker being interested.
I'm still working on that ridiculous GLADIATAHHH thing so maybe after I finally finish it I can play Spelunky so you people can point and laugh at my unreal attempts that don't even make it past mines 1-3
But for now, just boring old coding
And awesome music from Sonic games and whatever else I can think of
So yeah
I'll try to actually be productive this time

EDIT: It's over. Thanks for watching QCode if I don't get this project in on time I'm blaming you
