Help with a cheat (Sonic Rainboom)

Okay, after finishing the Classic levels, I noticed a cheat called "Sonic Rainboom". I understand what that is, since I was dared to watch an episode of My Little Pony for a cool thing, but I just realized: I have no idea how to activate it. If anyone can help me as to how to use it, that would be very much appreciated.
