I'm assuming this is true so again Turret that's a really good idea with the paper thing and I would love to see you continue with it.

Unfortunately I am now even more confused by what is going on, so

1. Bottom line: Don't steal other people's stuff

2. Don't completely flip out on people

3. This applies to everyone that's been posting btw

ninja'd by Firaga but I'm even more confused now I should probably just stop

I was there while you guys had that conversation.
You stole her level design non-the-less (after she specifically asked you not to do that) . And in the most direct way even. You could have drawn your own, you know that.
I'd suggest you take that video down, for you did promise her not to use it in any way, to show some respect.

wow you guys are getting so mad about a mari0 mappack do you really care that much. he can make his map whatever he wants jesus.
anyway the spelunky thing is probably not gonna be released since json is too limited for some characters (movement type).

I'm here to clarify some things:

-Turret's idea was using a sketch as a level.
-BUT he thought he was allowed to use Luna's drawing (the question here is how).
-The idea Turret stole was her level design.
-Yeah, he could make his own drawing.

That's all i know.

Apparently not.
B-Man99 wrote:Unfortunately I am now even more confused by what is going on, so
Pretty much.
Jorichi wrote:You stole her level design non-the-less. And the most direct way even. You could have drawn your own, you know that.
I could have, but there's problems with doing that, and it's overall easier to use one that already exists.
Jorichi wrote:I'd suggest you take that video down, for you did promise her not to use it in any way, to show some respect.
I promised her I wouldn't use it if she told me not to. She didn't reply, so I assume she was fine with it.
rokit wrote:wow you guys are getting so mad about a mari0 mappack do you really care that much. he can make his map whatever he wants jesus.
We're a civilized community, so I guess we should care.
Hans1998 wrote:-Turret's idea was using a sketch as a level. Yep.
-BUT he thought he was allowed to use Luna's drawing (the question here is how). True, though don't get the question.
-The idea Turret stole was her level design. Level Design = Idea?
-Yeah, he could make his own drawing. Answered already.

You know what they say about assuming
Things just keep piling on top of each other until one of you ends up dead in a pizza oven
Image
Anyways Turret I'm still a huge fan of your paper idea but next time I would recommend using your own picture and not stealing someone else's without permission.
Everyone else can you please just chill out it was a misunderstanding really but Turret you should probably apologize and straighten this whole thing out before there IS a good reason for people to start flipping out

I might be able to do some chalk pastel drawings for you turret
dunno though

I just remembered
I'm not an artist at all
AT ALL
I could do some terrible Microsoft Paint backgrounds though, that'd be similar.

Anyways since I don't want to be a hypocrite (pronounced stupidly for effect) and make a pointless post, I'm very glad that the conflict is resolved Turret. I would hate to see such a unique idea brutally murdered disappear just because of a misunderstanding.

Inb4 people complain because you're making drawn mappacks at all.

But honestly, level design is not copyrighted, people. He can do whatever the hell he wants. Hell, if that's your excuses you should be yelling at Maurice for putting the original SMB into Mari0 because it's "copying" Nintendo.

Hm, I think the lines could've been drawn a bit darker. It's kinda hard to see.

Why not get grid paper, draw the tiles, go over them in pen, scan the sheet, cut out each tile in Photoshop and then stick 'em on a tileset? I understand why you wouldn't though, to get the sketchbook feel.

I'm going to do something similar to that, but only for non-tile things. (You can see that one dark platform, it was a SMB1 platform.)
As for drawing it darker, that's something I need to look into, but I will definitely have levels/things in pen.

Looks pretty cool, but i think you should use a trigger there.

Also, I'm remaking the entire tileset of THE SEQUEL, do you want to see my progress?

I'm not; It'd either require too much redrawing or editing it, which would either make progress overly slow or ruin the feel, respectively.

Mari0 Summary!
Image
The conversion wasn't so smooth though because the floor is cut off and it's too thin and the flag pole is too short and it was kinda difficult to not make things go 1 pixel through the floor and the background color is different and some of the tiles don't act like they do in Super Mario Summary although that doesn't effect this level and the character's hitbox is weird and I'm bored and why are you reading this and it's the end.

I should have paid more attention to this thread because looking back the artwork and design things you all are sharing is definitely peaking my interest. All of you.

I'm certain it's animated tiles.

Yeah, but that button might be too small to be seen during normal gameplay.
@Orbital : What if you made the button glow?

Not.. really. There's more than four shades going around. And Game Boy games normally use the brightest shade as the background.

Well, it's better, but it isn't really there. You seem to be using more colors than necessary, really. Try making the colors consistent among the blocks.

Well it's not a mod, it's just more shaders.
You make a "shaders" folder where your mappacks folder is, and put them there.
And they should work with SE.
