I have to agree with hugo it looks great but needs to draw the eye less
I would recommend just taking a filter and lowering the contrast and brightness
contrast especially because background items typically are lower contrast
have I said contrast enough?

That vaguely makes me think of the moon from Ocarina of Time. Interesting to see something in grayscale colours!

Do you know what happens when you make the castle tiles have the bridge property?

You're going to have a pun time. (also you might want to tag the gif as Spoilers)

in all seriousness that looks pretty awesome look forward to playing it!

Just a few ideas I mocked up. Not 100% polished, but I might continue these.

Real screengrabs from the game, but not fully functional. For example, the spikes on the second one don't work. There's other stuff I want to do like rising water in the third one.

your use of blocks in the tropical mock up is really pretty and creative
also I really like the concept for the industrial mock up
maybe you can have an invisible custom enemy that move the same pace as the screen so the spikes work? just thought

Animations would work better for the spikes probably (or at least easier to set up)

I'm back on the track BAABYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!
(DISCLAIMER: Backgrounds are 0% done, as well as the reality simulator, the office complex, and the underground tiles, but there's enought tiles to start testing so that's nice)
ALo maybe this doesn't look to good but it was because i had to make this image manually assembling the tiles (like a building a thing in LEGO), and i had a headache at the moment, so don't worry, the tiles in-game will look a lot more organized.

As a fan of steampunk stuff I demand you do something with this.
Seriously though, I like the idea and style you got going here. Looking forward what you'll do with it.

Is the steam made of enemies, because if so I actually did something like that for Qwertylevels. I think yours looks better, though.

oh wow i wasnt actually expecting such a postive reaction...
But as you all know from experience (I am so sorry for that mappack I made back then) I am not quite as good at creating challenging puzzles or mappacks in general, so I may have to burst your bubble there. Maybe if I put some actual time and effort into this I'd be able to make something with an "ok" rating, but I really don't know wether I'll do that

sorry if i copied something from you there unintentionally. Frankly, didn't get to playing your mappack yet :I

Don't worry, they're in World 3, which I haven't posted yet. And besides, you're using it differently: mine kill things and are mostly obstacles, as opposed to puzzle elements.

So, does anyone remember how slopes weren't fully implemented in Mari0 SE and they ended up being anything but slopes? No?
Well, i tried to make it so it worked as a feature:

You can stay there wondering what's going on in that screenshot, or you can try it by yourself here.
EDIT: Ah, sorry for not saying it before, but you need Hatninja's mod to play this map.

Why such a prejudice against 1.6 Mari0? Are you telling me we can't find new stuff at 1.6?
EDIT: Green screen is annoying...

EDIT 2: This was the best I could get, be happy about it...

Just about anything you can find in 1.6 can be used in SE.

But that doesn't apply if you make something in SE, since it rarely works in 1.6. And quite a lot of users still play 1.6 (much like me), so... it's still nice to have something for it.

Yeah, good thing he didn't put any 1.6 screenshots too, cause then there'd be a real problem.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, that screenshot is from a mod I'm working exclusively for the mappack I'm doing, even though it's impossible to tell. I win!
