There won't ever be a port of Mari0 to any console system. It's too complicated.
I think you just managed to find the hardest way so far.JohnHOne wrote:finish the mari0 special edition .. make a port for snes .. Simples.....or no?

You found the most complicated way of doing it.
Honestly, a android port is possible. It's a lot of work, since you also have to port the menus, but it's possible to make a port in love2d, with love2d-android-sdl2.

Well they didn't have to port it I SNES, it was made for it!
EDIT: I fail at explaining things. Just read Alesan99's reply.

Uhhh, noJohnHOne wrote:Hard? no,Super Mario World released very, very fast(same day of super nintendo/famicom release)
1. Even though Super Mario World was released when the snes was released, that doesn't mean it was made quickly (Wouldn't it make sense that Nintendo works on games before their console is released so people will actually have something to play?).
2. SMW was made by a big company not by a person that make games on his free time.
3. Mari0 isn't SMW
4. Not surprisingly at all, the snes's hardware isn't the same as modern pc's so porting mari0 to it will be a pain (No downloadable mappacks or level editor).
5. There isn't a converter where you can put pc games and turn them into snes games. It would require require remaking SE from scratch or intense modding on an existing game, and I'm quite sure modding in portals in a game isn't easy.
6. I bet the controls would be very comfortable.
P.S. emulators aren't the only way to get games on phones

1. oh,i do not noticied that got developer before snes release
3. i know
4.Ooh,i think that its good the snes hardware
5. i know that you cannon convert games(to do,you need to develop at scratch the game)
6. comfortable? yes,you change the angle with L and R(even it do not able to develop it),good that is comfortable

JohnHOne, point you're acting like it takes three days to port a pc game to console. You're also acting the same about porting an SNES game to mobile. And again, there's only one person developing the game and you're acting like he>Nintendo. L and R to aim is a pretty nice idea though.
Okay guys, I have a small problem : I actually made a mari0 android port , and you can download the .love file here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/k5cqbz6iymbqc ... .love?dl=0
There are on screen buttons for everything except the level editor, the game is using that control scheme I talked about earlier, and the screen is letterboxed. Though the shaders doesn't seem to work(Probably, it's the GLSL version that's different on a phone), and there are a few bugs here and there.
I was able to complete the portal mappack.
The problem is that when I tried to make an apk, I can get to the main-menu, but the game crashes(no Löve BSOD) each time I try to begin a game. Tried to use logcat, nothing really useful was printed. So I gave up, forgot about it for some days, and now I decided to post it.
So if you want to play Mari0 on your Android phone right now, you'll have to install love-android-sdl2 on it, then download the .love file(on your phone), then use some file manager to open the .love.
The version I'm sure I have on my phone : https://bitbucket.org/MartinFelis/love- ... _0.9.1.apk
The latest version : https://bitbucket.org/MartinFelis/love- ... 0.9.1b.apk
If one doesn't work, try the other.
Also I'm not updating this.
Finally, the control scheme :
The big blue-orange "stick" is how you control Mario. move yer finger left/rightward to go/run left/right. move it up to jump or climb, down to shoot a fireball/crouch.
Press somewhere else on your screen to fire a portal here. The color of portal will be the color of the stick. Shoot somewhere importalable if you want to simply switch to the other portal color. You can also touch in the direction of a box/button to "use" it. then touch again to drop your box.

As i downloaded all and i cant open the file Please How i can this
Love2d on your android phone, you mean?
Try to open directly the love2d app on your phone, then tell me if you get the "no game!" baby inspector screen. Also what do you mean by "I can't open the file"? Does it crash on startup? Does it tell you "no appropriate app for this"? Can you even see the file on your file manager?

I repeat, what do you mean by "1 CAN'T OPEN FILE"?
What precisely happen when you open the file? Do you get an error message? A "No appropriate app for this file" message? Does it instantly crash? Can you even see the .love file on your phone/tablet's file manager?
Also do you get a "no game!" screen when you open directly love-android-sdl2 on your phone/tablet? Because in this case, it mean you installed love-android-sdl2 correctly.
I really can't help you unless I have more information. If you don't tell me what do you mean by "1 CAN'T OPEN FILE", I won't know what to do.

Is there a "love-android-sdl2" for iPhones? You can install applications directly from websites, in case you didn't know. Also, about that Vita mockup… (Nobody plays them, there's no games for them so it flopped. It was a good short-lived dream though)…
Don't bump threads please and this was killed a thousand years ago. it isn't going to happen.
There have been a thousand attempts to do this and while it seems good on paper it may not be as good in reality.
I thought this thread was locked into the abyss anyway

right, sorry. I forgot, it's been forever. I was reviewing all of my posts and getting a bit nostalgic. (Just a tiny bit. Then I got excited and wanted to post. I can see now that progress is futile. ^_^) Although locking this thread isn't a terrible idea. (Unless Saso says so differently)WiloKing wrote:Don't bump threads please…

No. I don't see the problem. Just add a thumbpad for moving, an a and b button for running/jumping, a button to switch between portals, tap a spot on the screen to SHOOT the portal, and add a few extra depending on the scenario (like having the bullettime cheat on or the level editor, etc). You could even give it controller support! So yes you would need a thumbpad/d-pad and a run button and a jump button and a portal button, but if that gets you mad, try to fly in super mario world in an emulator on android, it's nearly impossible w/o a controller!Sašo wrote: If you were to use just a touchscreen device you'd need a direction pad, a thumbstick (or whatever the bloody thing is called), a jump button and 2 portal buttons. Also a sprint button. Are you seeing the problem yet?
