It sure has. I've mapped my Xbox 360 controller:

From the starting menu go to options and go left to enter the control options. It's usually set to 'Uses mouse: yes'.
Switch it to no (unless you really want to use a mouse with a controller) and you'll see AimX, AimY, Portal1 and Portal2 pop up.
Hitting enter on one of these will prompt a message that says you to press the button you wish to use.
Map every button and you'll be all set to play with gamepad supported.
Make sure your controller is turned on and connected before you start Mari0.

How could I do this with the Wii Classic controller?
I know about GlovePie, but I don't know how to use the axis as axis

I couldn't play mari0 without a gamepad when I got my new laptop. The keyboard from my old lappy was much more awesome. Anyway, I have my present PS3-knockoff dual-stick controller set up so move is on right thumbstick, aim is on left thumbstick, portal and player controls on the face buttons, left trigger and left shoulder.

You'd be surprised how easy the game plays like this; I'm a leftie, so I guess that's why aiming is easier for me, but I can move pretty well on the right stick. For those having difficulty using left for walk and right to aim, swap them some time and see how that works out.

Hey man, I know this kinda helps and is in no way bumping the thread, but try to pay attention to the date of the last post please.

Also pretty good to know, I'll try it out sometime.
