I think you need to *gasp* limit the character customization.
First of all, remove custom colors, since it can just be done when you create the character.
Second, max size needs to be practically the same size as big mario so that your character can actually complete maps.
Also, when SE comes out, if your character is 99x99 size, how is he going to appear in the menus?

Max size would allow actual programming to the player.lua. I hope that is made customizable. It would allow so many more entities.
I don't think 99*99 size would work. I hear scaling sprites down looks really bad. It would be possible, but it would require a lot of rewriting code for Maurice.

Customizeable colors are for characters you download from these forums or whatever. I don't see the need to remove an optional feature.
Physics size is not configurable.
