Yes, I know that. I am a normally impatient guy, but I did wait for this. How long? I think 3 months.
The length of time between the release of 1.6 and the release of SE is getting ridiculous.
End of story. Period.

Not as rediculous as the wait between the current and previous version of Zelda Classic though, that took over 3 years.

Mari0 SE is the sequel to Mari0. Sequels normally take 2 or 3 years. 3 months is nothing.

How much time other games took is completely irrelevant. It's a bit different if making a game isn't exactly your job and you like to spend you free time doing other things as well.

Yes, I still haven't finished them all yet! Also Maurice is wrong! I remember bad news!
Jun 11 Blogpost wrote:Back in October 2011 I posted a FAQ about Mari0. Here is the updated one for SE.

Is there a release date yet?
no.
Can you release a demo/beta?
no.

Thanks for reading.
T'was some bad news indeed.

He's right you know. Mari0 was officially released in March 2012 (v1.0) and a few months later after bugfixes came 1.6.

JSON is not fun...
Way too many restrictions.
I'm gonna' make a sandbox lua based modding system, that way the user has more freedoms.
I'll integrate my mod, then, into SE so it will have JSON (user friendly) and Lua (unlimited capabilities)

Didn't the seventh world of SMB3 have some levels that used spikes that looked similar to Sonic spikes?

Also, I hope they're only able to damage you from pointed ends.

@Bob
What's JSON?

I still hope we'll be given the ability to make brick blocks hold only a single coin; considering how SMB Crossover has those.

I was thinking that if you put some gel inside a question block gel would spread and fly out depending on the direction the entity faces.

I saw that there was the message "Couldn't load background 1-1.txt!". Is this going to happen for all messages printed to the console? Because seeing "The custom tileset was loaded in 'time'!" Every time you load a level would get annoying.
I doubt it will display successful messages like that. you'd still likely have to access the console to read them as they aren't anywhere near as important as error messages.

But this basically sums up MY waiting time.
Besides maurice posts a blogpost a month about all the new features. Now there's so many I don't even remember them all.
TOO MUCH WAITING. JUST RELEASE IT ALREADY.

As long as it's out before Nintendo release SMB Wii U they won't care.
Even then they probably won't care.

I think they're like the replay after you beat a level in Super Meat Boy.

It's a mass replay system, so you could display many attempts at a level, for example. Kinda like Super Meat Boy, or this:

Double Ninja all the way across the sky?

While the whole replay thing is quite good, I thought the gimmick of drawing a million Marios in each attempt's path would get a bit eye-grating.

The S0litaire thing was just for a funny GIF and will not be in the final game. Maurice isn't even sure if any kind of replay will.

Yes, but they were optional, so even if the infinite marios are in it, you probably won't have to see them.
