Yes, put it all in to a single thread and make discussions about blog posts a gigantic mess of different topics. That's entirely the reason behind forum software letting you make individual threads!

considering people have made 3 threads dedicated to full screen.

And a million for the map editor... I guess merging it all is a good idea after all :/

Putting stuff into coinblocks
Why not? So now you can put any enemy in a coinblock to have it appear as soon as Mario hits it. Yes, hammers are enemies. Mushrooms and co will probably use the same enemy customization so I guess they’re enemies too?

Are the powerups customizable? (can mario shoot iceballs?)

guess I'll have to get back into my smb2J mappack DLC and put all the poison mushroom replacements into the blocks.

I'm going to turn into bobthelawyer a sec to give maurice a question/suggestion (but he can choose how he wants it because well why not)
Suggestion:  You should fix all the bugs and glitches and release SE as is. You could add the other stuff later.
Question:  Why can't you just fix all the bugs and glitches and release SE as is? It would allow for mods and mappacks to be updated etc. etc. etc.

Grow up.
Turret is acting foolishly. He didn't need to say both. renhoek, he was trying to say the same thing twice. I wouldn't call renhoek an idiot for misunderstanding turret... After all, I don't see the point turret was trying to make...
(I don't know whether to feel offended by turrets statement... I can pretty much agree with his statements, it doesn't seem offensive, but the way he said it...)

I think he was just trying to show the comparison between a question and a suggestion.

Aside from that...
I plead to hope that we're getting Poison Mushrooms in SE. If not then I'll just have to re-skin a goomba, change the speed and make it unstompable and fire goes through it, and make it the same speed as a mushroom.

well here's what I read turrets question and suggestion
Suggestion: fix bugs and release.
Question: why can't you just fix bugs and release?

which could've been one question instead.

as for the poison mushroom thing if it does get in I'm hoping people won't be dicks about it and replace the skin with a normal mushroom skin.

Fire Trigger: Well received, getting into turtle's mod.
That's my only other suggestion so far. (besides my build up on the ? blocks trigger thing but nobody responded to that)

You would unfortunately suffer the problem of the "mushroom" not disappearing upon contact with the player like a actual mushroom item would. Unless you can specify that when customizing entities.

Actually the poison mushroom is already in. Saw it on one of the streams a while ago.

I'm wondering if we'll be able to make thwomps.

I'm going to turn into a master LUA coder for a second even though I have no LUA skills:

How to make a thwomp

Code: Select all

base=plant
{

}
The plant pistons so lets use him (totally not doing this because the blogpost used it thus making it easier, pfft, no way (definately made this joke because of the blogpost, and I know it's lame))

Code: Select all

base=plant
{
"pistondisty": 15,
"dontpistonnearplayer": false,
"pistonspeedy": 23
}
Let's change the piston distance to a positive number to inverse the direction, and lets make him go 15 blocks.
And we want our thwomp to squish mario, so make him piston near player.
10 times the speed of a plant for the falling speed

now the tricky part, height and weight...
...made easy!
Image

Code: Select all

base=plant
{
"height": 2,
"width": 1.25,
"pistondisty": 15,
"dontpistonnearplayer": false,
"pistonspeedy": 23
}
And there you have it! I would post a screenshot but I don't have the beta.

Turret's being intelligent. I don't know how to feel about this.
Only problem with your implementation of Thwomps is that they would fly back up at full speed.

not much "programming" knowledge is required since it's not really programming, it's really setting values.

^ And even if there was, you could still try to learn it.

Gee, before, i didnt know how to program in lua at all (i know this isn't about lua, but still...) Now, well, i still have very small knowledge for it, but i DID do some (sucky) Lua scripts for some NES emulators. Here is an example.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhdRItouEkw

I have one more lua video in my channel, its my first lua script: SMB3 music scrambler. Parts of all the music in the game get scrambled...

My scripts are very messy though.

EDIT: I said "could"! Not "should"!

We've already talked about the controls a lot and we came to the conclusion that the steering wheel as input is by far the best method. It'll have multiple inputs for those who don't own one though.

Mari0's not the only game in existence. Stabyourself does make other games, so they can't always focus on Mari0 all the time. Stop complaining.

It's not waiting time, just think of it as SYS making their own variation of "The Waiting Game" where we all patiently wait for SE.

No, it's not.
I would rather have buggy SE in it's current state instead of having to wait until the year 21893246163298756439857365846534875647830435706470356780633745367380957578043

Quick, release it now Maurice and watch him try to do stuff in it and encounter errors and crashes non-stop! He clearly thinks such things contribute to gameplay!

Also, the level format prolly hasn't been updated to handle the new stuff yet until all the features are in place.

This. ALL OF THIS.
Seriously people (Turret in particular), have some goddamn patience. We all want SE. But it needs to be COMPLETE first before it can be released. That means bug tested, beta tested, and polished before it is released. Seriously, shut up.
