So I was thinking maybe it would look really cool if instead of the standard mouse cursor arrow it could be like one of these:
ImageImageImage
Well I stole those off of google but something in those lines.

Could work really well with the new pickup portal thingys where your cursor would be only blue or orange.
Just in game though, I understand it would be annoying in the level editor.

This is a very good idea if you use the first one. You'll be able to know what portals have been placed with this.

This is a really good idea. The colors could even match the portals colors for each player if you're playing local multiplayer.

Custom crosshairs would make it look like geocities.

I'm sorry, but I'm siding with Maurice on this one. The 8-bit crosshair from WesleyB (IMO) looks very sloppy with how the "portals" on the sides are drawn.

As I stated these are from google images. I don't like them either but I'm sure there are people here capable of better.

Got bored, made my own version of the crosshair.

This idea could be good if done right, but I'mma agree with Maurice on this one.

I'd imagine that in most cases there'd only be one onscreen at a time. If it was during online play I'd imagine you could only see your own crosshair, and if it was in local co-op, there'd be only as many as there were mice attached to your computer and being used, which I would imagine would be one or less as I don't think most people use more than one mouse per PC and local co-op is much more enjoyable with Gamepads IMO.

Quite why doesn't the crosshair line up with the portal aim line?

Because image origins are in the top left. Not everyone knows that.

The transparent border on that image is huge.

It could be a option where you could turn it on/off for singleplayer and multiplayer.

At that point you could just not have it in the first place :P its a pretty minor thing. If anything I'd rather a + shaped crosshair over everything suggested thus far.

I prefer just the mouse cursor anyway. Like I said before, it's a good idea if done right. But it's not really needed.

Download love2d, over here: https://love2d.org/
That allows you to run it.
Then download the mod here:viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2231

You have to rename the extension (if not already named) of the mod you downloaded - not Love2D - to a .love extension.

Then you run the file you just renamed.

As for the mod, https://dl.dropbox.com/u/97639347/Mari0 ... 20v18.love. Just run that if you already have Love2D installed.

Tip: When someone says they're using google translate, don't use complex sentence structure. Use simple sentences, they make more sense post-translation.

Get the source download of Mari0 1.6
unpack it with whatever program you use for unpacking (winzip, winrar, 7zip, your ass)
throw the crosshair image somewhere in the extracted folder
open up main.lua
load the image somewhere in the love.load function https://love2d.org/wiki/love.graphics.newImage
hide the mouse https://love2d.org/wiki/love.mouse.setVisible
draw the image at the end of the love.draw function, something like love.graphics.draw(crosshairimg, love.mouse.getX(), love.mouse.getY(), 0, scale, scale, 6, 9)
save
get löve 0.8.0
drag the folder in which your main.lua is onto love.exe

Maurice gave the solution for "how to make your own mod about this",
It's a solution for people who know how to code.
Since you don't know how to code, I made this mod for you, so you don't have to do what Maurice said.
Here's the download for the mod (It's the Microsoft Windows version) : https://www.dropbox.com/s/h1d9nbgu2depb ... mouseC.zip
And the download for the love2d version:https://www.dropbox.com/s/7u9a2io4o3jjt ... ursor.love
