Will your server be able to handle all the people connecting and downloading Mari0?

I don't think there's that many people waiting until 5:00 precisely to download the game.

5am in South East Asia
5pm in the USA
11pm in Central Europe

I bet there's a tonne of people waiting for this! I only heard about it yesterday and I'm checking the timer every 10 mins or so. I'm glad I didn't know about it earlier as I probably couldn't have managed the wait. It looks awesome and I'm really looking forward to trying it out!

I think a torrent of the game and a link to said torrent is the solution to the server page issue. I have had this issue in the past with one of my websites. It might not be an issue but if a website such as reddit gets a hold of the link at the exact time....well it wont be pretty.

OK created a mirror:
<removed>
I put in a readme that points to this site. Hopefully that helps a little with the server load.

Ill take it down in about a day.

Maurice doesn't want people to make mirrors.

We rented Amazon S3. There is absolutely no need to rehost.

it did totally overload for the first 3/4 minutes though. but it never crashed, so nothing bad.

It was actually only the result of my sloppy dl.php code. That made people refresh the page madly, effectively overloading the php backend. So I just changed to direct excalibur links and one php-fcgi restart later all was swell.

interesting. it's fun to try and imagine you trying to fight against the swarms of avid stabyourself fans behind your screen sending php commands that could crash the system at anytime. You really are a knight of modern times *tear*.
--yeah ok, "php commands" is stupid

...Not really sending php commands, just restarting the server.
