Gel updates?
@Developers at Stabyourself.net
Please, in Mari0 SE, update the gel mechanics. I find it to be very annoying that the gel only affects the player. If 2you could code it to be more like the actual portal, with gel affecting anything that it comes into contact with, that would be amazing, and create many new oppourtunities for a great game, with great levels. Please take this into consideration. -Gemgamer

I do like your ideas and always wondered the same thing, though don't hold your breath on it. It'd be easy to re-color enemies and cubes though, just do a color overlay on whatever sprite is affected by the gel.
I wish the features of LÖVE weren't so limited...

Yeah good idea , i approve this , but i don't think Maurice will, because ;
but who knows , let the choice be his .Maurice wrote:but I have to slowly think about a feature lock.
I think he means entities, like goombas and stuff. Maybe even cubes, dunno.
Just an idea, dunno if this would be possible at all but if Gel did affect cubes then couldn't you make something like a minecart level where you ride on top of a moving cube? As I believe the physics for such a thing would be different to Mario's jumping, allowing you to say, narrowly avoid spikes on the roof amongst other stuff while riding through a narrow unportalable tunnel and evading pits.RWLabs wrote:I think he means entities, like goombas and stuff. We do know that boxes are effected by veridian gel...Franpa wrote:Just an idea, dunno if this would be possible at all if Gel did affect cubes but could you make something like a minecart level where you ride on top of a moving cube? I goofed up the wording a bit, my question/idea should read a bit better now.

I understood what you meant, but I am saying that at least some gels will effect other stuff...Franpa wrote:I goofed up the wording a bit, my question/idea should read a bit better now.

I remeber that final coop mission in portal 2 where you had to make a cube slide down to block lasers , using the orange gel . to open a door or something ,
I was just thinking, that in a lot of my "testing" levels( i am planning on making a map) I was trying to use things that were presicely timed, and the problems that i ran into were mainly on a single test chamber. I was trying to make a cube slide over buttons to get a precisely timed door to open. This, of course did not work, because the gel did not affect the cubes in the way that i wished, and also because the doors need a certain time to open. These were some things that i did not anticipate while making the map, and have set out to find a way to make it work... somehow... Anyways, if anyone in the Dev team for mari0 actually reads this topic, please consider adding some things to the arsenal of tools in the game. (could you add a signal reducer or a signal lengthener?) These tools could insanely make the game more complex, and definetely more fun to play. :) -Gemgamer

Or shooting them very high after an infinite portal loop...Gemgamer wrote:Also just noticed, cubes and other entities do not react to springs either. :(
