What's up forum ?

remember the sounds the portal gun makes when you shoot an invalid surface in portal ?
it's not in mari0 , guess developers forgot about it , anyways here , check this out

Upload it on mediafire... I think it'll be in game.lua were it would be called when is does a portalable check...

EDIT 2 ; we can also add , splash.wav for the gels ?

if maurice were to add in the sound effect as well, would be nice to also have the colored sparks come off from a failed portal

Sound effect seems way out of place and doesn't suit the game in my opinion and is probably why it wasn't included.

Well the game is sort of a mashup between Super Mario Bros and Portal so i guess you preety much have to include all the elements from both games , developers are already working on excursion funnels and more , and i thought that a little detail like the invalid surface thing wouldn't be a problem for them

Just kidding. It's not really important but I guess I'd like to see this in the game too...the icing on the cake I guess

Please can someone work out how to code this better? Seriously there must be a way to get it working better than this.
Plus side: It plays when you hit a non-portalable wall.
Minus side: It plays BEFORE you hit a portalable wall.

i have downloaded the .love file , you did well , when you shoot a portal on an invalid surface it makes the sound effects but when you shoot a valid surface , it also makes the sounds , so that's annoying , maybe if developers come to see this , they would probably fix it ?

It's open source. He's more likely to include something if it's been made already. People need to chill and stop asking Maurice to work so hard. He's one guy and we should just be helping him if we think something should be done, try doing it... Then (like me) hope someone fixes your horribly buggy code and Maurice will hopefully thank them and throw it in game because he can.

Slightly more on topic: If anyone more skilled at coding wants to look into this the main code on mine is in portalprojectile.lua, so yeah, that's where it's got a little bugged.

I think that's why the line is red on a non-portable surface. It's a visual representation for the invalid portal placement. The sparks would be good, though.
