I don't really know why you wouldn't want the music on, but if it's really important then just turn it off in the level editor.

But then you have to remember to re-enable it otherwise the level will have no music. It would be nice if the music was muted while in the editor though.

Maybe to play his own music while he plays? I do that with some games. And the Mario tracks can get a bit repetitive.
