Maurice just postet a riddle whose solution is the release date of the game!
He postet it on stabyourself.net
Do you have any idea?
BUT PLEASE, DON'T SAY THE RELEASE DATE! JUST SAY HOW TO SOLVE THE PUZZLE ;D

Strange that Maurice didn't also post it on the forum...I'll see if I can figure it out.

i think i made it :D
it is binary, so white = 0; black = 1. from left top to right bottom.
Solution:
converted it's 401, what means 4/01. The first of april aka april fools day. also the title was "No joke."

So what can you say of the current guesses? Any of them close to being correct?Maurice wrote:I thought it'd be weird if I started the discussion.Pyr0saur wrote:Strange that Maurice didn't also post it on the forum...I'll see if I can figure it out.
hiya, just joined up to try in at this riddle
i don't think the 401 thing is right, since i tried binary converters, and they all came out with something that can only be either gibberish, or some kind of code (i say code because i noticed it having a ; a few times)

Ok i tried decoding it as binary wit white being 1 and black 0, and vice versa here's what i got
White=0 Black=1
MŒ™f‚t
and when you google that, it changes to- MŒ?™f‚t
Now White=1 Black=0
³íf™}‹
and when you google that, google changes it to- ³ íf™}‹
and putting them together gets you- MŒ?™f‚t ³ íf™}‹
any meaning to anyone?

I feel lIke thIs Is the most lIkely answer.Elbow wrote:My analysis...

Since Maurice does live in a different country, he may look a the date as DD/MM/YYYY.
So either it could be 3/3/2012, or 3/2/2012.
But Maurice saId that If we found It, we'd know It.
I feel lIke only the aprIl fools date fIts that.
I seriously doubt it will be to do with solely the amount of each colour.Elbow wrote:My analysis...

Has this got anything to do with Ortho Robot
EDIT: if it does the 20th is the closes ive got

Double EDIT: but when i flip it around
http://prntscr.com/611w9
So my final guess 20th of May
@Hen Barrison most likely the 21st

It may, have you dug through any of the later levels?byrono wrote:Has this got anything to do with Ortho Robot

I thInk we should examIne all the levels to see If any of them make thIs Image.
I doubt he'd expect us to look for something that 'looks like the image'. That doesn't sound like something you'd know if you got it. :Pbyrono wrote:Has this got anything to do with Ortho Robot

Not to go totally off topic, but it's very noticeable in those italics. Out of interest, why do you capitalise every 'I' you type?Hen Barrison wrote:I don't thInk It mIght look lIke It, but exactly.Camewel wrote:I doubt he'd expect us to look for something that 'looks like the image'. I guess It stared wIth the word Idea. I would acedentally capItalIze It and It just evolved from there. Have you ever seen someone who CapItalIzes Every Word?
Its lIke that.

You see, I see four possible outcomes. We manage to work it out, or Maurice reveals it and we're thinking either, 'Oh, that's really clever', 'That's really obvious, why didn't I get that' or 'I hate you Maurice'. Maurice, which do you think is more likely?

So we get it, then when Maurice reveals we are right we hate ourselves for not getting it? Okay then...Kyle Prior wrote:I choose options number 1 and 3Camewel wrote:You see, I see four possible outcomes. Here is what I tried:
Convert image to binary then to decimal:
0100110 = 38
1100011 = 99
0000010 = 2
0101001 = 41
1001011 = 75
0011010 = 26
0000100 = 4
1110100 = 116
Adding it up gives you 401. 4/01? April fools. No joke, huh?
Although I feel this 'riddle' might be way easier then I'd expected...

someone on the blog said the QR option. but i can't find a decoder that works with the image, or one that lets you put in a 'custom' code of your own. alternatively, i did notice something with the image, and did a simple mirror of it and i did get a face, but the rest could be anything. or nothing at allkabalzerO wrote:could it be a part of a QR Code? or something like that?
or a puzzle... maybe we have to take the black ones and rearrange them?
damn... xD
You did it wrong. There are 8 sets of numbers in a binary set, not 7.Jorichi wrote:Here is what I tried:

The numbers are: 73 209 101 28 131 236 88, when added together, they equal 866. Which doesn't mean anything that I can discern.
Yeah I tried that, but I was wondering why Maurice would make it 7 wide (and this outcome rang a bell) if that was the case.Jaedreth wrote: You did it wrong. There are 8 sets of numbers in a binary set, not 7.

And what if the image is rotated by 90 degrees to the left... or right?
So, it's not Binary -> Ascii, because not all of them point to proper Ascii code, it's not Binary -> Decimal. And dropping each block straight down doesn't do anything. Which means I bet one has to rearrange the blocks in just the right way to form something, or I'm an idiot.

The more I try, the more I think it's going to be something ridiculous that we would never get. I'm trying all sorts of weird stuff, nothing is giving me anything useful. I get that we need to think outside of the box, but can you at least give us a hint as to which kind of box we should be thinking in? I got a Y once, that was nice.

Well Kyle, it could be, but I'm unsure of the amount of sarcasm included in that. If he is being sarcastic, like I think he probably is, then we've possibly got a February release on our hands. However, that could be an offhand comment or simply just a joke, and the release date could be any time still. You may be on to something.
