Trosh: The Movie: The Game: The Android Port
So I decided to port android to trosh whoops I mean trosh to android, and after a few hours of converting the game to 0.9.1, adding dynamic resolution and touch screen controls, and compiling love-android-sdl2, it's done!

I've invested way too much time and money into this iPhone to get another phone, and you guys go ahead and make stuff I want like this. What the heck mane
FPS dips a lot on my S3. Still, it is fun. Managed to get Mul 5 for once. 10/10.
I updated the download: The port is now optimized(I used spritebatches everywhere, destroying bullets and ennemies when they are off-screen), and I get good fps most of the times.
Much smoother now! Also perhaps add a replay button at the end of the game? Its better than having to exit the game and reboot it to play again.Automatik wrote:I updated the download: The port is now optimized(I used spritebatches everywhere, destroying bullets and ennemies when they are off-screen), and I get good fps most of the times.

If Mari0 was to be ported to a phone, could a phone support it, or is it too big of a game?
I think a good phone can handle it, the problem with a phone port of mari0 is the controls.

You have movement on one side, with an action button, a jump button, and a colors button. (so like trosh, but 3 buttons on the right side)
The color button toggles between two different colors, indicating the portal to use.
Then if you tap the screen, it uses that portal.

How would you run then? You can say "hold action down to run" but let me tell you jumping while running is tricky when using a touch screen.
I've played the original SMB on my phone (via emulator with on-screen buttons) and making those jumps can be troublesome.

I had this idea for the GUI of Mari0 on Android:
This makes running easier, doesn't it, Idiot? My idea: if you hold the "R" button (the one in the middle of the arrows) and move your finger over a direction, he'll run in that direction. The running will be kept until you release the screen. To walk normally, you'd have just to hold the arrow buttons. If you start by holding an arrow button (and not running), the run button is "deactivated", so you don't run accidentally (not that someone have problems with running... This sounded like directed to Idiot, but wasn't. Sorry...). The action buttons are the "Jump", "Grab" and "Remove portals" buttons. The two portal buttons at the top have some lights. If some light is on and you tap on the screen, Mario will shoot that portal in that direction. If no portal is on, he'll just point in that direction. The "Grab" button also works for pressing buttons, of course...
What you guys think?
EDIT: Better to understand the run concept:
If you start holding a movement button, you can't run until you release the buttons (but you can move around in any direction walking). If you start holding the run key, you can run in any direction, and keep running until you release it.

Good idea, but switch the "G" and "J" buttons. Otherwise it'll be hard to jump while running.HugoBDesigner wrote:I had this idea for the GUI of Mari0 on Android:

That is exactly what I posted, but the R on the left is the Run button.

Thanks, Turtle! Well, if someone's going to do this (Automatik, perhaps), I can do a better GUI for him/her :)

I have another idea, instead of having a running button, you can pull the movement stick further for running and not so far to walk.

I wouldn't know, but considering every other post here is from 2014, it might just be outdated
I'd like to know about that as well! I'm working on a market review for this property in Torrevieja https://tranio.com/spain/valencia/torrevieja/ and am thus working from a computer with no games so that I don't get distracted, but I'd still like to do some breaks every now and then and play something on my phone.
