FUCKING AUDIBLE.COM SPONSORS EVERYWHERE

You can't avoid them. They're everywhere. Everywhere you go, Audible! Audible! And here! Have this code for 1% off: GOFUKURSELF2000
Why the hell is everyone obsessing over audiobooks or whatever the fuck they're called? Does anybody else hate it as much as I do? Or is every one of my favorite YouTubers sponsoring Audible and it's just a coincidence? Sorry for the rant, guys.

those sponsors are the reason that youtuber can do it full tmie and upload frequently

Rokit is right. I mean if you aren't willing to turn your adblock off for them, you can at the very least let a YouTuber cram a sponsored ad down your throat once in a while.

I always feel like a jerk when I turn ad block on, but I don't have a device/web connection that can load a page with 50+ ads quickly. Maybe I'm browsing the wrong kinda webpages.

In other news, for no apparent reason, I decided to start a Let's Play series. Here's Episode 1 if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4T-LpB ... e=youtu.be It's Undertale! :)

The problem is, they make it so drawn out and boring. They're everywhere too. God forbid they sponsor some other company.

I agree. It's come to a point where GradeA sponsors them.
But you can always ignore it. It's not like you're forced to watch them.

GradeA is probably the only one that has made their sponsorship ad-thingy funny. Not even jacksfilms does a good job at it.

CinemaSins makes his sponsorship ad-thingy funny too, I guess. He was sponsored by Audible.com, CrunchyRoll and NatureBox, but it was never a "read ad" moment, but more like a "make fun of things while advertising". I actually quite enjoy those, even if it's Audible.

The only problem is, I never watch TV. Too many crappy shows. It's hard to find good shows(at least, ones that I find interesting)
It's not the ads that are the problem, it's how long and drawn-out they are. One video I watched had a sponsored ad that went for 1 minute. Not even kidding. And when you see the same company's ads getting sponsored, it gets annoying. Like when you watch TV and you get given the exact same ad twice in a row. It's annoying.

But you can skip forward in the video when a sponsored ad comes on, no? That's one of the biggest differences between TV and Youtube.

Ok, let me fix all those problems for you.

*Install uBlock (but whitelist the YouTubers you love. I dont like blocking ads on YouTube as a whole honestly)
*Skip the promoted sponsored part of the video at the begging and/or the end of each video.
*Record all your TV shows to skip the commercials.
*Buy Netflix.
*Alternatives to that is Hulu, Amazon Prime Video (given you hate audible, dont), or YouTubeRed.

If all else fails then just don't watch media. Honestly, if you're get pissed off at people trying to make a little extra money off of something that they enjoy doing whilst simultaneously trying to make it free for you to enjoy, you don't deserve it.

they chose audible cause it obviously will get them the most money. i mean you can't really complain since you're leeching off of their content with adblock on.

i mean you refuse to support them and youtube itself because you can't stand waiting for 5 seconds to watch a video so i'm not really surprised you made that point.

fuck adblock man

Again, it's how long and drawn-out they are. Not many people make them funny or short.
I'm fine with ads. I just hate when they interrupt the video just to sell you some product.

"Not many people make them funny or short."

you know what, it's almost as if they are trying to actually sell you the product. i know it's a far stretched assumption but i reckon theres at least a tiny hint of them trying to actually make money. and also, they are almost always at the end (actually i've never seen them at the start or middle) so you can always click off them. also, you won't feel guilty as you are already robbing those youtubers of their hard earned money by being too much of a lazy fuck to watch 5 seconds of an advertisements.

How about you quit complaining and get adblock. People who care about the content creators' income won't use it unless they donate or perform some other act to increase their funds. End of story.

The idea of manipulating someone through media is essentially repetition, it's how you get the tune stuck in your head and have bias towards or against a product when you see it in a store or online looking for a similar product. That's how it works and that's gonna be how it stays until they find a better way to do so, which will probably annoy you more, so how about you be thankful for what you've got instead of bitching an extended amount about a fact of any form of entertainment.

Okay guys so I started playing through OFF.

The game's nice, but, when I closed it, it set my screen resolution to something so small I almost couldn't fix it.
Does anyone know how to make it not do that? I'm running windows 8.1.

You'll probably have to go into the files and mess with some code in order to change the resolution temporarily and manually, so you can fix it ingame. Not sure how to do any of that though since I'm not very literate in programming languages.

I have created a poll for a class and hope y'all can find the time to answer this question. All help is appreciated as it saves me time asking this question about 100 times. Thanks in advance.

Ok, I know we just moved on from this, but the irony is so strong.

So, let me get this right, you hate it when someone repeats the same thing (or same concept) over and over again? Shit.
So kinda like your repetitive and constant need to hate something so petty, so little, then say the word "fuck" just to show us that you're old enough to have a respectable, reasonable opinion?

Now we wait for HugoB to explain why we're acting like children.
which he wouldn't be wrong

EDIT: Spelling and typo errors.

I have that issue with Wine occasionally, but I figured it was a Linux exclusive thing. If you do a reboot, does it get fixed? I'll see what I can do for a patch or script.

I'm guessing it's a bug specific to your computer. At least, I haven't been able to reproduce it. I'm really not certain if a script would even work. How would you feel about playing in Windowed mode? That's the easiest thing I can think of without seeing your rig.
To auto start into windowed mode you have to:
1. Create a Shortcut of the executable.
2. Right-Click->Properties on Shortcut
3. Add "NormalPlay" "ShowTitle" "Window" to the end of the Target: section, then save.

That should do it.

Stabyourself.net hasn't been the 2-person collaboration group Maurice and Sašo in a long time. With Maurice being completely dead and Sašo simply too busy to do anything on the forums, it will probably stay that way. I don't think anyone on this forum is here for that part Stabyourself.net anymore. It's the community we're here for.

Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but you could've said that a year ago and still be fairly accurate. The SE Beta was likely the only thing actually Stabyourself.net-related that people visited the forums for since the death of 1.6.

But the community's moved on from the forums. Steam chat or Discord or the IRC. There's a reason you don't see Idiot9.0 or Renhoek posting here anymore. Forums are an inefficient way to hang out with friends.

I still hope Maurice can make a comeback someday, but for now I think it's best we stop prolonging the death of a forum.

Perhaps it's time I finally listen to all your prayers from several years ago, and stop posting as well.

To be fair, the idea behind making a forum was mostly for support of our games.
I think it's great that a community actually developed out of it, and people moving on to other platforms is not something I regret, as there's nothing to regret. It's simply nice that we were able to provide this opportunity for people to find friendships that hold this strong. I've met many great people on the Facepunch forums and have a lot of fond memories when I was active. I've moved on from FP, but that does not mean I will forget about the time.

My inactivity on this forum is mostly due to negative prior experiences with forums and me growing tired of this image I've created for myself of being rather rude and relentless, which I regret now.

I never said anything about regret, so I'm not sure where you got that from, but it's good that you don't.

These forums were a life-changer for me. Even now I instinctively keep a tab of the forums open.
I doubt I'll ever forget about it.
