Opps, my bad. I've been using that "a" for awhile now/just using a regular a period. I'll fix it.

EDIT: Isn't an option on OS X. Next time I'll just copy/paste his name.

Hey no hard feelings about the deleted post, Mariofan. Just a shocker to see a pretty good sum-up after an outline of an outline of an idea :P

Federation Force is too Chibi, and will be a solid Game, just not a solid Metroid Game, Kirby Hype, and Sticker Star 2.0

I'll be honest. The only time I got out of my chair and screamed (literally) was when they announced EarthBound and other SNES games for new3DS Virtual Console. I mean, the new Kirby Game looks nice. The only Kirby games I liked in these recent years where Epic Yarn and Kirby's Adventure for the Wii. Wasn't a fan of Mass Attack, and wasn't a fan of Kirby Triple Deluxe. Maybe this new one will be good, but I don't know.

I just opened a new tab when they started to talk about Metroid Prime: Federation Force and...uh...Disney Art Academy? Have they even seen the Pokemon Art Academy community on Miiverse?

Edit: Probably not. Here are some photos.
It's rare to see a Pokemon-related post like the first one listed. Don't get used to seeing many of those.

There was a not-pokemon-themed art academy game though

But nobody cared about art academy games until the pokemon one

Then they didn't draw any pokemon

Maybe the controls were more intuitive, or it was finally worth it once they also got to learn how to 'mon. Who knows. People are idiots.

Maybe that's it. I don't know. I didn't get into the Super Mario Galaxy series until I played SMG2.

Yesterday, you said tomorrow.

Memes aside, here's a tool for you to use.

Don't think "tomorrow". Give yourself a solid date. As an example, March 5th.
Then give yourself a time. 5:00 PM.
Then give yourself a window between that time, and when you think you're going to quit. Say, 20 minutes. Maybe 15.

Also write it down on something you will see before your set time.

Baby steps my friend.

I'm gonna go against what most people would say and be like "go for Lua". Mostly because that's the only language I know but not necessarily because it's the only language I learned. Lua is just the easiest. Get the programming logic, then make some Lua tests (modding Mari0 is also a great thing, I mean, it worked for me), then carry on to the other ones.

No but seriously, while this is pretty much about me, Lua and modding Mari0 made it veeeeeeeeeeeery easy. The part about modding I like the most is that you don't need to get the "setup" right away, you can just experiment on a pre-existing platform. So for example "Oh, I wanna see what it's like if I have this thing moving around the screen following the mouse..."

While yes, it would maybe even be easier as a standalone thing, you get all the LÖVE callbacks and such there for you, so you just do your stuff, not the thing that prepares your stuff to work.

Of course, standalone lua doesn't have any of those (unfortunately), but if you use the LÖVE2D engine they're available.

Another good tip, and I'm just saying these for anyone in the same position as Liz here;

Break down these goals as much as you possibly can. I'll start with Lua;
Break Lua down to its components. Its parts. Then break those parts into their respective parts. Then break those parts down and so on until you can't. Then learn each parts of parts one by one, don't forget to apply them to your projects and have fun with them. Forget about learning tricks to do things easier, just do what comes to your mind and work on that. The tricks will come later.

So i put everything i learn into it's own category/subcategory?

Also, i thought it was simple as learning code then acsessing some of your files and that other stuff, didn't know it was a little bit complicated/hard to learn it (well i guess when i learn all of lua it won't be so complicated).

Well, "easy" start: get the programming logic. I would link you to the series in which I learned programming logic (it was Java but still), but it's in Portuguese, sooooo... yeah.

After programming logic, it's easier to make up the rest.

As to what programming logic is etc, well, I guess you can find about it on Wikipedia or in the LÖVE wiki/forums, I'm sure they have stuff there about the basics of the basics... Or just Google and good luck

imo don't listen to them.

if you learnt javascript, you wouldn't really need to learn the other 2 as much.

also pro tip, when you find yourself constantly googling stuff and feeling like you know nothing, don't worry. i made >$100 by accepting freelance projects and googling how to do them. my favorite one was when i got paid $20 for copying and pasting his request into google, copying and pasting code from stackoverflow and changing some variables to what he wanted, and i sent it to him without even running it.

I'm only using Lua as an example. Breaking down the thing you wanna learn helps. Also choosing a single thing to learn in a pool of similar things is quite a limiting idea. With all of the languages out there, it wouldn't hurt to have a finger in each one.

The thing about Lua that I wanted to convey is that it's simpler to get going. I mean, don't get me wrong, Javascript is much better and once you learn it it's easier to get to other languages, but in my opinion, coding is more about getting your head around the logic and the thought process that goes into the coding, and not the "formatting" or "syntaxing" of it. Lua, in my opinion, is much simpler because you rarely have to do stuff like defining variables or setting functions as public or private. You want a string? var = "string". Need it to become a number? var = 10. Is this number an integer or a floating point number? Neither, it's just a number (which in my opinion is easier for starters, not needing to worry whether a number is an int or float or double, etc).

Once you get somewhat used to programming and the ideas behind it, and how to structure your code, and how to think about the solution to your problems, moving on to slightly more complex languages becomes easier not because you're used to the coding process, but to the problem-solving mindset.

But that's just my opinion.

Couldn't help but notice that the snow layers and dots in the dirt changed in still frames. Are they randomly drawn? Because I thought they'd be tiles. Well, if they're random on purpose, maybe they shouldn't change with each level restart, but I dunno how you're dealing with it so.... it's really cool regardless so cool you may even say it's... ice cold

There's a few different tiles for the dirt
It randomly selects one every time the level loads.

Also, it will be slowed down by the time it finally releases.
The high speed was just for fun.

Oh, boy, i've seen a case like this before, we got an english exam after learning about determiners, there was a question about writing "a" or "an" before some words, and for some reason it's " a University" and not " an University" and we all were like WTF, and the teaches goes like "bitches it's a special situation", and we're all like "you didn't even fucking say", and she was like "u mad, bruh?" and she didn't give extra points because we didn't magically know about this special case of the wonderful english language.

English is glorious. Although I know very well the difference between a and an, I don't know how to say why that is. Being a native speaker in English is probably the only reason I am able to comprehend it.

I mean, at least there's a bit of logic. The word technically starts with a consonant sound.

"Yoo"-niversity. "Yur"-opean. Et cetera.

Kinda makes sense? No? Somehow this messy language runs massive parts of the world.

This language is weird.

Why do we need the letter C? It only steals the sounds from s and k.

Why do we need the letter F when we have Ph?

Anyways, i got a new computer!

Oh yeah, lots of rain here too. Today was supposed to be the first day of spring quarter at my university, but classes are cancelled due to all the flooding (likely tomorrow as well).

Last night was especially fun because of the tornado warnings. I'm surprised there haven't been any outages yet.

It rained on monday for us. Several trees fell into the road.
I was actually hoping it would rain all week because we never get varied weather.
