So I got Mario Party 10 today.

...and it's actually not that bad.

I mean, the Mario Party mode isn't that great. I definitely prefer the old way. But while Mario Party mode is pretty meh. Some of the minigames are actually pretty fun, and Amiibo Party is better than it seems.

The real reason I'm enjoying it so much, though, is Bowser Party.

In a lot of ways, Bowser Party mode is similar to Mario Party mode. There's still the car, the courses are still linear, and There's still those ministar things, but there's one key difference: Bowser.

Bowser doesn't actually change the gameplay on the map all that much, other than by removing bosses, and replacing ministars with hearts, but with everyone in the car on the same team, the game feels so much more satisfying. It doesn't feel so weird, since you and your enemy move separate from each other. The ministars go from being a random progress reward to actually being really vital. One heart space could mean the difference between winning and losing. Collecting heart heals everyone on your team, so there's no bickering over who needs it more.

One of the few things I would change, however would be giving the players a head start.

In Bowser Party mode, bowser moves immediately after the four other players. Since he gets four dice blocks, he will almost always arch up to the players. Now, this didn't really bother me too much, since I was playing against a computer, but I imagine it would be much more annoying against another player. It doesn't help that Bowser can reroll his die if they're not enough.

Despite its flaws, Bowser party is sill extremely fun, and definitely makes me glad I bought this game.

tl;dr Mario Party 10's Mario Party mode is okay at best, but Bowser Party makes it worth it.

I never really played Mario party games. I did have Mario Party DS And it was fun. But after that all I ever played was MP8 At a friends and loved it. I noticed though that the car thing began in 9.

I'm pretty much going to get mario party 10 just for the amiibo mode since from what I've seen it's the closest to the orignial Mario party game play and if you have a bowser amiibo like I do you could do bowser amiibo party.
From what I've seen the mario party mode is just randomization with about 3 minigames through the whole thing, and I was really looking forward to bowser party until I realized how bullshit the game favors him, for example there could be 2 people left in the game so that's two dice rolls, but Bowser still gets 4 dice and not only that but to win the board the players have to pick one of three random characters who has the star otherwise they miss a turn.

But from what I've seen from amiibo party it looks pretty fun.
(also why on earth is spike out of all characters playable?)

It's definitely harder to survive once you lose people, but in almost every game I've played, hearts were obtainable very quickly after losing a member. I suppose it mostly depends on how you use your special die.

I didn't really care about spike when I saw the game, but for some reason, he's grown on me, and is now one of my favorite characters in the game. I'm just weird like that.

I got Duck Hunt on my Wii U today, it is SO DANG FUN. I'd definitely recommend it if you have 5 bucks and a Wii remote.
