A game made entirely by one person. What do you think about it? I'm playing Hard Mode now, And I'm trying to beat the Core, I almost beat him/it today.
Since a lot of people love it (Including me) I decided to make a thread about it.

It's sheer perfection. I like Portal 2 and Spelunky more but that's personal opinion. What cannot be argued is that there is literally nothing wrong with Cave Story and everything right.
I was obsessed with it like 4 months ago so I guess I'm someone that could completely recommend it.

Seeing how the original 2004 release was free, there is no excuse not to play it if you haven't. Right now.

So, anyone managed to unlock the Curly Story mod? It's weird, they call it a mod but it's not really a mod because it's part of the main game...
I haven't unlocked it yet... Maybe I'm wrong. Anyways, it unlocks after you fight curly for the SECOND TIME apparently. after saving her, in sacred grounds she attacks you for some reason. I haven't gotten there, just failed at avoiding spoilers on the wiki.

That isn't how you unlock it, that never happens. You unlock it by finding a specific item in the game.

The Curly Story isn't that great anyway, it just makes you play as Curly instead of Quote. Dialogue changes a little to keep Quote mostly mute, but other than that it's just the same game. It's not much of a spoiler since it's just a character swap. More of a novelty for going out of your way to find one item.

And the game's been out long enough so I'm not blocking spoilers since if you haven't played this game by now you deserve to have it spoiled. (c'mon the free version is still available play that if you can't afford CS+)

A lot of people still haven't heard of it which really surprises me.
I was worried that someone was going to say how to unlock Curly Story which is via finding an easter egg that is more fun not spoiled (It's so great when you find it on your own without knowing about it lol), so I was just being cautious.
Other than that yeah I agree with what you said. I played Curly Story for maybe 5 minutes.

Well, it looks like I completed the game..
4 Times on PC.
2 Times on PSP.
1 Time on my Wii.
I'm still not bored.
Anyways, do you guys know any cool CS Mods? I've played King's Story, WTF? Story, and Jenka's Nightmare.

Cave Story 3D Is way to easy. They added like 40 Life capsules, and I heard you can still get the Booster 2.0 after getting booster 0.8.

I think cave story is pretty good. I like but also hate how it continually makes me get stuck on the next boss. I'm currently stuck on the eye thingy, after you open the gates in the watery area.

When the fight starts, go to Platform 1, and use the LV. 3 Blade to destroy all the projectiles, after it opens it's core, go to platform 2, destroy all the projectiles, and when they stop coming, use a lot of missiles on the core. Repeat this and you'll defeat the core easily.

nevermind, I just beat it outright with machine gun. Cave Story + makes it easier by allowing a gamepad.

yay,i completed the game but i didn't unlocked the ????? in the main menu or any of the challenges,what are they anyway and how to unlock them?

they are extra challenges, that are available when you get certain ending, like the best ending.
