If it doesn't fit elsewhere, it should go here

Sorry to go straight to off-topic when you hoped it wouldn't, but your title says Soctor, which maybe by the time you're reading this you most likely will have noticed

Quick! Somebody photoshop the fez to be a sock!
Never watched the show, everyone around me does though. Am I missing out?

Yes, you're missing quite a bit.
Start with either the 1st or 9th Doctor. Yes, the 9th is the start of the revived series. He's fantastic.
Now, put a sock in it and get to watching :)

I came into this topic with my fingers crossed that the title was a typo

The RTD era (9 and 10) were really good, it's gone downhill a fair bit recently. Definitely watch the first 4 seasons of the reboot, 4th is best IMO.

any group of people big enough can be generalised as sucking, there are a few pretty cool things to come out of the DW fandom

I've seen a few episodes of the series (mostly the ninth and tenth doctors) but I'm not crazy about it... or TV in general, for that matter.
I do hear my friends discuss it a lot - how the tenth doctor was the best, how Moffet ruined a lot of the continuity, how they're excited for the new doctor, how universe this affects universe that, how the Doctor is going through a lot of emotion and anger, how Torchwood is just freaking weird (saw the first episode of that too, dropped it after the preview for the second... my gosh <_<).

The thing with the 12th doctor is he's only had like 30 seconds of screentime, so we don't have a good idea of what he'll be like. I'm reserving judgement for now

Yeah, this is basically my philosophy on new doctors.

He seems like a great comedic actor, who swears constantly, so he's fine so far.
Though he's older, he moves like he was age 20.
Just look at his movement style in the other things he's been in and the 30 seconds he was shown.
He's the British white male Usain Bolt with that movement.
This one's probably going to last quite a while. I can feel it.

EDIT: And now, I'm finally going to get to watch the episode 'Bad Wolf'.
I'm scared.

From a non-linear, non-subjective point of view, time is more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey...stuff.

I've been a whovian for about 3 years now and it has changed my life for the better.
I even went extreme and watch all the Classic Who.
Changed my life, for the better.

I tried to watch some classic who but the videos wouldn't load. Dailymotion sucks.

But the thing is that you slowly grow to like that doctor.

Also,

Bump

Since the last post in this thread was made a while before Series 8 (And we're already halfway through Series 9), what do you guys think of the 12th Doctor? Honestly, he's been rocking it so far. At first I was expecting him to be a dark and grumpy Doctor, and although the show's gotten a bit darker (lighting-wise I guess, heh), I'm glad he's not grumpy. Seriously, him rocking the guitar is amazing.
