The stars reminds me a lot of Minecraft's night . But if the game is called "cubes"then it fits pretty nicely :D

The red and black reminds me of Netflix but I think that's mostly me watching too much netflix more on topic: the jump bothers me but I'm assuming in game this background is nicely looped right?

Yes, it loops perfectly in the game. It would've been amazing if I got a perfect loop out of that GIF though...

I've been spriting a lot of ponies lately.

I decided to make a little concept of how a game with these sprites could look like:

So far I have the default walking animations for the following characters:

Derpy's eyes appear to be switching color, but that's just the upload of the gif that fucks it up.

I also have idle animations for Princess Celestia and Princess Luna:

I'll be giving these a walking animation too. But I don't think I will be giving them much animations, since I won't expect them to be used as much.

I'm working with a base for the basic mare body-type to make animations, they're not that exciting just yet but so far I have:
Standing, Walking, Trotting, Sprinting, Jumping, Flying in place, Flying Forward, Flying Faster, Sitting Down, Stopping Sprint, Getting Hit, Bucking, Climbing Rope, Lying Down, Crawling/Sneaking, Freefall, Game Over, Twilight's Awkward Dance and Pinkie's Evil Enchantress Dance.
Here's four of them, I'm pretty sure you can guess which ones they are:

I love working on animations...

Anyways, I'm far from done and far from getting sick of it. If anyone is interested in using these, feel free to contact me and I can put together whatever you need.

These are actually pretty amazing. That animation is so lovely. I love the hair bouncing.
I really need to make a note of it because Auto's Sudden Youth and these pony sprites really look awesome with it.
I mean the animations are fluid as hell in all aspects though. Good job as always Jorichi.

Also I'm really glad I have someone putting me in a group picture. That's cool of you, MagicPillow. Thanks.

These might be good for Mari0 characters. And OCs, but I was mane mainly thinking of Mari0 chars.

When I made that animation I originally did, but it looked very off and weird. But I'll give it another shot.

EDIT: How's this to you?

jwright159 wrote:Jorichi, can you please post the bases? For, like, reasons?

I don't know if they'd be good Mari0 characters, their size is different (as tall as Big Mario but twice as wide) and the animations would require quite some modding before they would actually function and connect nicely (e.g: The jump animation has 6 to 7 frames (which should be tied to the vertical speed of the fall) while in Mari0 it just has 1). But I shouldn't judge on that.
The main reason why I didn't post the bases is because most of the liveliness of these sprites is in the manes and tails, most of the bases feel very static and unactive without them (for example the flying and sprinting ones feel very empty and will be much more lively if their manes and tails would flap in the wind). I've only applied the manes to the basic walk animation and they would be drastically different for a sprint animation, so applying them isn't easy if you want it to have the same fluid animation as in the walking one.
So if you really want me to create a character for whatever reason, I can do it for you so it'll have that same liveliness. And if it's for Mari0, make sure you have someone who can mod it in for you, otherwise it'd just look like shit.

Actually, you can set a custom amount of jumping/running frames in SE...

I was also thinking they could work as Mari0 characters, but I think MM102's are probably the best choice for pony characters, or at least a close second to an Order Of Twilight character I made, which actually works really well since Twilight is only 1 pixel taller than small Mario's hitbox. The big sprites are a bit weird, so I only put it on steam chat...

Okay, I've been working on a secret project since the 16th of December last year now, I haven't told anybody on this forum about it at all, not even through private message. Today I have finished this project.

De-making the entire 6th generation of Pokemon/Mega Pokemon into Gameboy Colour sprites!

When making this, I made sure to obey all the rules;
- no more than four colours
- 56 x 56 pixels
- and as an extra challenge that the original GameBoy colour sprites didn't obey; be as proportionally accurate as possible

I present to you, the product of hard work, no blood and tears, sweat due to weather, and many bus rides after school:

Kalos Region:
WARNING:
This contains some two Pokemon that were hidden in the code and leaked online at the very bottom. If you wish to avoid spoilers of these two, close the spoiler once you have scrolled down to the row that contains the legendaries.
Image
If the image has expired, view it at the link that doesn't expire here

Mega Evolutions:
WARNING:
This contains mega evolutions from Pokemon ORAS, if you are trying to avoid spoilers on what they are, don't view this image. Also, knowing that this game isn't actually released does mean the possibility that more mega evolutions will be revealed. Am I gonna do them? Hell yeah.
Image
If the image has expired, view it at the link that doesn't expire here

NOTES:
1. Why does Xerneas have a fifth colour for the rainbow parts of the horns?
This is the only time I made an exception to the colour number rule, as I found it impossible to find any other way to show the different colouring otherwise. However, I came up with an idea as to how this would of realistically been handled; because it's a legendary, I figure some special efforts would be realistic, so the solution would be that the fifth colour would handled as a seperate sprite that is layed on top of the base sprite. To have a fifth colour without actually putting to many colours on screen, the colour would actually change to a colour on the sprite of it's opponent's palette, thus having the same amount of colours on screen but using it in more than one place, and also being sort of like the original's rainbow horns, instead choosing one colour from any part of the rainbow at a time.

2. Flabebe's evolution line comes in five colours, where are the others?
I made them! you can find the other colours here!

3. Vivillion has more than one wing pattern, where are the others?
I did not make these! the other wing patterns have too many colours that I wouldn't be able to fit all of into the colour limitions, and copying colours from the opponent wouldn't work either because It they aren't rainbow like Xerneas' horns. Not only this, but these patterns are dependent on what region the console is in. Realistically, the gameboy didn't have the technology to detect the region it was in, so it wouldn't be capable of having different patterns for different regions in the first place.

4. Can I use these sprites? And if so, is the a version with a transparent background instead of the box around them?
If I didn't want people to be able to use them I wouldn't publicly put it on the internet, because they'd do it anyway. Yes you can use them, but PLEASE give credit! I worked hard on these, please don't forget this! And yes, I have made versions with transparent backgrounds.
both boxed and transparent sheets can be found here.

5. Do you have any other plans after this?
As tribute to the remakes, I MIGHT de-make all of the 3rd gen Pokemon. I really liked making this one so I imagine I'll miss not making these sprites, so I might do it for that reason. However, should I do so, I know the 3rd gen Pokedex is much bigger, meaning that will of course take another year, and if I do it in secret again, it means none of you are going to see any of it for a while. I dunno, I'm still thinking about it.

Those sprites look really good (I wouldn't be surprised if I discover a hack that uses these :P)

if I could criticize one thing though some of them look kinda small.
Do you have any plans for doing the back sprites?

Mega Raquaza  was really hard to compact all of the details into with the small colour palette, I tried my best and I think I did well enough.

Backsprites I haven't considered... they would be slightly easier due to being small sprites that are scaled up on the GameBoy, however less space might be hard to compact all the details into, so I might try backsprites that aren't just scaled up small sprites.

EDIT: I dun goofed, when I uploaded it to dA, a friend of mine informed me that I accidentally put Spritzee's evolutionary line twice instead of Swirlix'. It's been fixed!

Damn you guys are great at spriting. Also that Mario makes me think he's stalking someone: "Wait! Is that her? Oh nope, just another hobo... *sigh*"

While I'm under this spell of wanting to create sweet and smooth animations I decided to use the main character Becky who I created for the redesign of Scrappers.
So here's a pixel art of my first Becky drawing (because most people probably haven't ever seen her):
Image
And here is her idle animation (Imo the animation came out better than the drawing):
ImageImage
She's excited... very, very excited...
I've considered Becky my non-pony OC ever since I created her, but I've never made anything decent with her until now.

Some long time ago in school (like years ago), I was told to make a pixel art picture for each one of the original thirteen American colonies. I don't remember which one matches with which.
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Last friday, I finished pixeling Typer based off of Rainbow Dash.
Image
But that didn't work right, so I made my own mane and tail, as well as making the gif.
Image
Then I finished the base.
Image
Using this base, I made Tesla.
Image

What? These are too small to see? Here.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Typer's and the base's fur aren't transparent, it's just the same color of the stabbybackground.

When I'm alone, this can lead to some really stupid stuff:

It wasn't like that when I recorded it, but you get the picture.

All of my ponies were made in about an hour total. I'm also thinking of makeing a list of my OC's. Please don't kill me Jorichi.

Actually, this is due to perspective. Her arms are actually in front of her, so they look a little smaller.

Not perfect: Everything but the hair, eyes and limbs is just copy-pasted over, which makes it look more stiff than it should. I wonder if the GIF was faster it would look better, but other than that not sure how 'Richi could fix it.

You might want to take a crash course on perspective.
Even if her arms were twisted back all the way it still shouldn't be as small as they are. Also there's probably enough movement in everything else that the body could stay the same but turret does actually have a valid point for once.

add jiggle physics.

I think you need a crash course on perspective MM102. Her right lower arm is slightly bent towards you.
Plus the vest makes her torso look bigger, which gives the feel her arms are shorter in my opinion.
Image
Imagine her with lowered shoulders and her arms down by her side, her wrists will end up on her hips.
She doesn't really have such short arms, does she?
I think her gloves might be a bit overkill too, but I'm not sure.
Tell me what you guys think I should do and Ill give it a try.
TurretBot wrote:Not perfect: Everything but the hair, eyes and limbs is just copy-pasted over, which makes it look more stiff than it should. I wonder if the GIF was faster it would look better, but other than that not sure how 'Richi could fix it.
The torso itself doesn't move in the animation, but I did try to make the vest swing a bit.
Though this ended up looking broken and out of place since I can't really movemuch of the vest. But I can give it another try.
I also tried to jiggle the boobs a little, but that just got awkward...

The original GIF was 10fps, it felt the most natural. But here's one at 15fps:
Image
Still excited.
I'll give the vest a change, it could most likely fix both the feel of the arms being too short and the animationless torso.

On another note; I've been working on the running sprite every now and then.
It's still a work in progress but it does show her arms in action better:
Image
Still excited.
