Reminds me a lot of a character I've seen on Tapastic, although they don't do the same medusa thing. I wish I had motivation to art. My resolution is already in shambles.

oh hey, I think I've actually seen that character before. I follow that artist on tumblr, but they don't post too much about their comic. It may have influenced me subconsciously tho. cyclops girls look really good with bowl cuts I guess.

I am sorry but i wanna poke both of them in the eye

actually idk, I imagine serious things like death would tend to put her in her demonic form, and depending on your victim they'll react either impressed by your skill if they don't care for them, or literally rip you to pieces if they do

So my photoshop CC trial has run out... But I did something with the last of it just before!

AND I did a speedpaint for it!
I only did the colouring - the original sketch was done by the wonderful meme queen Kylee Henke!
I'll be back to fire alpaca now... time to readjust to shortcuts... again... and lose my more painterly brushes... again... but I'll deal with it.
not a dA link, but rather a tumblr link! It's not particularly large so tumblr could handle it fine - and most of my art is going there rather than my dA nowadays, so yeah.

What i do for trials just reinstall it.
And move the folder to a different location and rename the folder so the program will make a new one and not find that your trial ran out.

I mean, SAI has adjustable shortcuts and custom brushes. Sucks that it isn't a vectoring program.

Really great picture though.

He wasn't actually asking, I'm just fanboying over something. I kinda wanna try Photoshop at some point now, but that'll be for when I have money or time to get a crack.

the thing about creative cloud is that it uses a login. It's a really cheap year long monthly paid plan of like 14$ a month, but I'll likely be getting a cheaper student plan for it if I get into my uni course in game art and design in about a month; and if I start a plan now it conflict with getting the other one.

Knight lady

Tried out a new program: Krita! It's free and it's super good for painting. It has a square painting brush which is a huge plus in my book because it's my preference, so I may use it instead of FireAlpaca from now on :>

It turned out really good, it looks much more stylistic and less rough around the edges.

I'd say this one is more rough around the edges actually; this was sort of quick and messy and has very visible brush strokes - but that also contributes to the stylization. Photoshop definitely have more texture to their brushes, so if that's what you mean by roughness then yes, it is less rough. I feel like I'm really improving in getting some more hues in though. I didn't do any sampling at all like I did with my self portrait or Elliot painting and yet I still feel like I got the face to look really colourful.

Re: Art Thread

Oh yea, someone recommended Krita to me so I downloaded it, although they recommended it for animating since there's apparently a few "beta" files that will make it good for it. I dunno how to work it though, I need a rundown, since all I know that I can use so far is the default brush. Send help. I'm too accustomed to SAI.

Also: I liked it, although the sword is a little crooked and the arms are at a bit of an awkward position to be holding it like that. Lighting, colors and overall composition are pretty great.

I definitely get what you mean by the sword and the anatomy; I didn't really put too much effort into it so it could definitely be better. but otherwise, thanks!

I like the walking pose in the first image. Most people can't pull that off.
Here are some things that you can probably do to improve, however:
The hands in the sketch of you playing on a controller seem off, because the index fingers are bent in uncomfortable ways. Try to bring them closer to the rest of the hand.
The torso in the second image is directly facing the viewer, even though the rest of the body is angled to the right.
Lastly, you should try to draw the helmet around the head. The neck / chin looks stretched out when in the suit.
Otherwise, keep practicing! Practice makes perfect, after all.

Re: Art Thread

Posted: 08 Feb 2016, 09:51
by HugoBDesigner
Thanks for the criticism, Cake!
I tried making the hand on the controller look natural by having the fingers where they would normally be in real life, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make the index position look natural :T
The torso on the second image: yeah, I goofed up. Tried to show more details of the suit but forgot to keep the pose in mind.
The helmet thing just won't apply in this case cause he's not wearing his helmet, but just a tissue that goes around the head and in the chin (kinda like a hoodie, but not exactly), and the helmet goes on top of that. Kinda like how astronauts do.
