Is this a tightly knit community? I dont come all the time here, but I get the feeling that most everyone gets along all well and good! there are a few instances that I see sometimes where some people don't get along well but mostly this seems like an inviting place. -any way, my question to everybody: besides the reason :"LOL I PLAY BECAUSE IT'S SUPER COOL FUN AND I LIKES GAMEZ LOL" - is: what makes stabyourself games so much fun for you?

for me, it is nostalgia and (as of right now with not pacman, not tetris, and mario) getting to play new game at the same time and (for the time being) open source!

I like the parody games. Not Tetris, Not Pacman, Mari0 all fit that description.

I think we're all pretty much here because we know how awesome Mari0 will be.

No pressure Maurice and the other guy.

Poor Saso, ever since a guy posted "or the other one" instead of Saso this is becoming more common. Although I don't really think Saso cares all that much about that.

No he doesn't. I guess I mostly played not tetris because it was fun. I still think there should be a coop mode, like in the original versions of tetris, but it plays very well nontheless.
And presently I mostly play mari0 because I like to do infinite falls. yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm an oldskool gamer and Collector.
I own 3 NES-consoles, 99 operational NES-games (almost all famous titles included), 2 different kind of zappers, 8 different joysticks, the NES four-score and much more.
1 SNES with 12 operation SNES-games. Got the SNES-Scope with carrying-pouch and cardboard box. And Mario paint, fully functional and complete with box.

I play quite allot on my 360 as well. And I loved Portal 2.
So, my favorite oldskool game with one of my favorite newschool games fused into it just gave me a nerdgasm.
I'm also learning to program with Love2D. I started that before I found this. So all the pieces just fell into place.

I think my reason is the same as yours. I get to play the classic games that I love with an awesome twist. I am especially fond of not pacman.

Weeeeeelllllll.....

I thInk the tecnIcal aspect and the creatIon of these games Is somethIng that really draws me In. The re-Invention of Tetris wIth the more realIstIc physIcs(And a lIne system to accommodate) Is a real InterstIng concept to me. I also enjoy the refreshed challenge of Not Tetris.

For Mari0, Its the novelty of playIng a 27 year old game wIth a modern game's excItIng twIst.(ThIs, Without regard to the other excItIng fetures thIs game wIll have.)

High quality, low file size free games. There is nothing objectable in that sentence. Maurice is clearly a damn good coder, and I play the games simply because they are all so recognisable while being totally unique, and polished to the highest quality possible. These are things to be proud of, and I hope Maurice makes an original full-length game at some point, because he is pretty much a budget version of Valve.

Edit for clarification: If he ever does make said game, then I don't expect it to be either free or low file size. Just saying that the current ones are.

In my opinion, "full length games" don't need to be 10 gb whales like WOW or such. What we call full-length nowadays is a simple gameplay with lots'o'maps/lots'o'guns. I consider maurice's games to be "full" games even though you don't have to spend a week downloading it. I can spend hours playing not tetris (well ... I can also spend hours playing tetris), and with all the mappacks you crazy kids are gonna make, I expect mari0 won't be "easy to finish" or anything (not that I ever stopped playing SMB either).

What I mean by 'full game' is a game which you can get a few good hours of original fun out of it. This is where Pacman and Tetris fall, they're very repeated. Mari0 will be a full game, but it won't be an original game (also it will probably be kinda short).

I repeat, mari0 will not be short, because it's based off a not so short game, and the portals really (really) allow for a very (very) varied gameplay.
Also I expect there will be a community effort around the game, seing as mappacks are quite easy to make and very easy to download.
