Take a look at the source code. There are things that are commented out as being parts of 1.8 so surely there will be a 1.7

Not necessarily, Maurice could have noticed the pattern that only even ones are any good, so he's skipping 1.7.

does everyone really want to update the game every five seconds just to fix one glitch?

It takes time to do things like this. Be patient!

You asked a developer who is scared of questions, a question. He's recently been committed to an insane asylum and is all shaking and quivering in fear and in no shape to ever work on this game ever again in fear of getting asked another question.

It's funny... This game is completed and yet... you ask for more.
Do you email Activison for every COD Bugfix?
Or Maplestory?
It seems your taking advantage of him, besides, he already made a todo list saying what he is going to add.

EDIT:

Wait, why did-... Nevermind ._.

The easy solution- Yes. In the future there will be 1.7. No lock this thread and be done with it.

I swear I saw somewhere in the code a commented out network hook or something that specifically said it was intended for ver 1.8, Iono, maybe I hallucinated it during a 4am modding session.

Why would anyone play Maplestory in the first place?

Well there IS commented network code, but that's been in since 1.0 so saying it's for 1.8 wouldn't make much sense.

the game isn't different ... multiplayer is fun but it's just a better / different way to play the same game. If mario gets a grenade launcher and you have to solve puzzles to stop bowser from killing ezio auditore, that's a different game.

Maurice - good at trolling.

On many occasions, you said it would require a total rewrite of the engine and it's more effort that it's worth or something like that.

Slopes aren't impossible to make work, I made a semi-working slopes mod once.
The problem is making them not be glitch-filled. I'll try remake it sometime.
