Is there a guide for editing the animations on entities like coin blocks? I'm using Mari0 SE (ver.9 with bugfixes) and I'm trying to make a coin block animation that contains 4 frames instead of 5.
I apologize in advance if there is a thread for this already that I missed. I tried looking around for answers but searching the forums didn't return any useful information, and going to the documentation here listed on the wiki leads to a 404'd page.
EDIT: I was able to figure out how to change the frame count on the blocks (as it turns out, I didn't realize the menu screen and the game screen use two separate lua files for rendering the coin animations).
As an attempt to salvage this thread instead of spamming by making a new thread, I have another question. Is there any guide for making custom player sprites that have more than three colors? Would I have to edit the black and white image files (the ones used for filtering the custom colors on Mario)?

This is what that page had. Not really helpful for you.
You may want to check this one instead:

It's what I used to make animated tiles.

Thank you Hugo!! Sorry for the trouble, I ended up figuring out the issue before I saw your post. The link is very helpful though!

About the players, you can have non-customizable colors (for example, a hat that is always red), but I'm not sure you can have more than 3 customizable colors.

Okay, that make sense. If I made a custom character, would it be possible to have a set of sprites for when the player has the fire flower or star? I looked at the custom character sheets in the files, but it looks like they all only have small and big sprite sheets.

Star and flower are just special colors applied to the color layers that already exist. They actually just use the Big Mario sprites
