HOW TO MAKE ANIMATED TILES TUTORIAL
Make a folder named animated in your mappack.
Inside it put your animated tile image(s). The image(s) must be named with numbers (EX: Your first image must be named 1, the next image must be named 2, and so on).
Now, put a .txt file. Again, the .txts must be named with numbers (EX: Your first a.txt must be named 1, the next .txt must be named 2, and so on).
Inside it type the tile properties and delay(s).
EX: if you want it to be collidable then put

Code: Select all

collision=true
if you want a delay of 100 then put

Code: Select all

delay=100
if you want a delay of 800 for the first frame and a delay of 100 for the second then put

Code: Select all

delay=800,100
Your folder should look something like this:

Now you can use your animated tiles! While you're in the editor click the "animated" tab to use your tiles.

That's really weird. I think love.draw and love_draw are being treated as the same function for some reason

is this project dead? cause there haven't been any update since, i got many suggestions for entities, that other people suggested, but you never attempted to try. Also controller support is still not here, i want to test some entities with 4 players so i can report bugs.

also can you please provide a download link for the custom tiles in the original alesan99 entities mappacks because when i export it, all it gives me is original smb tiles. also can you do it with the animated tiles as well? thank you!

I've been spending most of my time working on a game of my own , which i'm almost done with (EDIT: Its done now). I'm not going to officially stop working on the mod until i feel no more reason to but I have been taking a break. Who knows, I might do a coding livestream soon.

Controller support hasn't been added because I don't have a controller to test it. I believe I only have to make the joysticks work, right?

The only reason i want controller support is because i want to test entities using coop and make a mappack called portal co-op, basiclly its like portal 2 coop remade in mari0

Well you can set movements with the controller so far, whenever you try to put these buttons for the Xbox controller ( A, B, X, Y, start, select, RB, LB, LS click, RS click, same thing with a play station controller) it crashes
But you can set aim with the right joystick, works fine except that you can't shoot portals

I think adding more levels is kinda a good idea if you try to remake games from other super mario bros games. If this is happening, you should add a level warp pipe, basically your at 1-2, then you go inside a level pipe, it'll take you to world 1-6. Might be useful for those worlds who has like 87 levels, in one world

BUG REPORT: appearently, when each player gets their own yoshi, one player can simply jump onto another player whos riding a yoshi, and the yoshi will be stacked, when you jump (both players) they have infinite jumps for some reason so you can fly around. I suggest adding a feature depends on how many players will be per yoshi, what i mean is that, if you are playing 1 player and got yourself 2 yoshis, one of the yoshis will turn into a 1-up like how it works in super mario world

Im new to this forum and I have some ideas for the next update of the mod. (edit) I am going to be updating this list frequently. (UPDATED) (Edit: Please tell me what you think about these suggestions)
1. Wigglers (with a dropdown menu for whether it is angry or not)

2. Bull's-Eye Bills, Bulls-Eye Banzia Bills (Also known as King Bills, sharing names with another varient), and Targeting Teds (Bullet Bills, Banzia Bills, and Torpedo Teds that home in on Mario)

3. Updated Fish Bones Behavior (So they home in on Mario)

4. Sumo Bros and Lightning Storm entities (Lightning Storms are when Sumo Bro lightning randomly falls from the sky. This is a feature in Mario Editor)

5. Snifits

6. Custom Lakitus (Lakitus that can throw enemies other than spinies

7. Boo Circles

8. Bowser Jr. (With behaviors from Super Mario Maker)

9.Flame Chomps

10. Walking Piranha Plants (With behaviors from New Super Mario Bros Wii)

11. Yellow Koopas

12. Galoombas (Subspecies of Goombas from Super Mario World)

some of these mods looks easy to remake in mari0, and some other ones will be impossible to remake in mari0 as they dont have some features to use most of ideas in SMB

The new update is almost finished. There are a lot of bug fixes and a couple of new things.
The full change list will be posted when the update is released but for now you can look at some major features
  • Added Koopalings
    Added ability to add more levels (up to 9)
    Added ability to add custom sounds
    Improved bomb-ombs
    Linkable checkpoints

I'll consider this. If i decide to add them I'll only make bull's-eye bills.

They don't do that in super mario bros 3. I'll need to find out a way to add an option if i do decide to add this.

I dont really like adding too many ultra specific specific. I dont really see a use for this

the clock is based on the one for special mario bros and it doesn't have a unique sound

I don't see this being necessary as this game is in 2d. They're also based on the ones from smb2j

30. Updated Sidestepper Behavior (Sidesteppers in Super Mario Bros Special take 2 fire balls or bumps to be defeated. Damaging it once will make it angry, increasing its speed, just like in Arcade Mario Bros)

WOW!! these features are so cool, the possibilities are infinite and you'll never run out of ideas using this mod when making mappacks.
Also 9 more post before we reach page 43

Edit: is bowser junior is also going to be in the new update since koopalings are being added?

SMW platform where you press on and off switch
Ice flower bros
Sideways plants
A Wheatley boss battle (portal 2)
Someone suggested Cape from SMW
You said you were going to attempt online multiplayer (good luck with that :))
A radio (portal 2 might be useless)
Some Super Mario maker entities
A platform where, when you stand in a spot, a wall forms upwards to prevent you from getting past (portal 2)
Bowser statue that jump towards you from SMW

Remember you were looking at old posts, those were even before the time I (shortly) cancelled the mod. I don't even remember saying i'll try to add online so take what I said back then with a grain of salt.

The update is coming out today or tommorrow so I'll have to consider those for the next update/patch

Nah don't worry I'm not mad.
I just can't respond to every individual suggestion cause its a little overwhelming getting multiple lists

Consider fixing these bugs with multiplayer mode

With map height, when player 2 dies while its in the vertical scrolling, it doesn't do the scrolling, but when player 1 dies, it does the vertical scrolling and its really annoying to have this as a feature. ( or this a bug)

With dark mode cheat, when done in multiplayer, player 1 cant be visible with dark cheat as player 2 can be visible with dark cheat. but when they go far away from each other, the game gets dark and you cant see both players.

The new update is finished!
There's a lot of new cool stuff added, most importantly the koopalings (and bowser).
There are also new features like adding levels and custom sounds!
Not to mention that there are some big bug fixes, like checkpoints in sublevels and controller support.
