I guess to start you could just try editing variables, and then learn lua.

Is there an easy way to combine mods?

It depends on the mods you were going to combine. What were you going to combine?

Man, I do not recomend you merging my mod with other's mods. Not because I wouldn't like or allow you (in fact, that'd be awesome if you merge those mods), but in my mod I've changed a lot of luas and graphics. So, even if you're a great modder and know everything about lua/love, it would be incredibly hard to do it. That's why ucenna offered to merge my mod with his modloader mod. This would be a lot easier. So, even if you still wanna merge them, I'd recommend waiting until ucenna release his mod...
And as Qcode said above, it's not going to be easy

I have to agree with this. If you combined the three mods it would probably take a lot longer than SE because all of these mods separately took months!

As a side note, the modloader is already merged with Mari0 MS and Turtle's Character Loader. (And maybe a few others, I have a tendency to forget things)

@Gramanaitor
Mod merging doesn't take super long, since your not recoding the mods, all your doing is finding the difference's in the mods' codes and putting them together. That said it can be hard to find some of the more subtle changes, and it's long and boring. I wouldn't recommend that anybody did it as their first mod since it's not very rewarding, all you get out of it is two mods that you've probably already used.

To mod Mari0 (considering that you aren't experient with lua/love), start modifying some of the already implemented features, maybe adding some new ones (probably copying already existing codes and changing them as I did with custom indicators in my mod), and after some time you'll have already learned a lot about lua/love. That's exactly how I did Mari0 +Portal: if you see the first entities/features codes, you'll notice that they're not very "professional" (for example, at that time I made 15 customindicators after wallindicator's code, but if I'd do that again nowadays I'd probably do it in a waaaaaaay easier/compacter form). But coding isn't that hard. All you need is determination, being good in math (of course) and trying, failing and trying again!

This is more accurate than I'd like it to be.

There really is no "official" modloader. People on here normally don't use them. However, there are these two.
