I have played it once, for about 5 minutes. It didn't worked very well on my computer at that time. Although I spoiled myself a lot about the game, so when I played it I didn't had any surprises. Yeah, that was kind of dumb from my part, but I couldn't resist.

Anyway, back on the panels topic: how could I make the Portal 2 panels? I mean, I think it'd be easier with animated tiles with pixel collision on it, but would there be an easier way? I'm open to suggestions...

I was thinking in something like an entity, with the options "On position" and "Off position". Using this i think you can put "degrees", "position x" and "position y". If you want them to be portalable, that would be a lot of work.

There will be this entity, but I wanted it to change properties (not portalable - unless if not diagonal - but also have gel properties). Well, I think I'll have to use animated tiles for what I want, but that'll be a little bit hard. I'll try to add a command to Environmental Trigger to detect gel in tiles. This way I'd add it to the tile (supposing it was a diagonal panel), remove the gel and replace the tile with a pixel collision tile with Repulsion property... I don't know. That'd also require an Environmental Trigger to detect tile IDs. Yeah, I have enough work to do already (I still don't have animated tiles done).

Quick Update!

As I said in "Chat Room", I finally re-added animated tiles! They support properties, custom delays (even to each frame), looping (now it's not required to use the "animation loop" property), and much more!

Also, I added full support for animated custom coins/coin blocks. More than that, you can specify which tile a coin block turns into after being hit, how many coins each custom coin gives you and much more!

I also added Pixel Collision compatibility for every property (well, at least most of them). So you can have Pixel Collision plus Underwater, so you can make an "underwater small region" thing or even rising water animations!

EDIT: Forgot to say that I added a lot of new useful commands for Commanders and Environmental Triggers. I'll explain they better in the future...

I'll add a custom enemy entity that you can edit from in-game. Yes, I already said it before, but it should be a "surprise", shouldn't it?

Hello, everyone! Missed me? Probably not... Well, at least I hope you missed my updates. Well, I have an AWESOME update here! I updated the main post, so you can see some of the smaller features (the last commands on Commanders and Environmental Triggers, the last features on the features list...). I probably missed a few things there, supposing that they were already there (yes, I know I do it sometimes. Sorry). But you can see most of the new features HERE. If you're too lazy, let me show some of them:
But the main and most amazing thing is that we now have ANIMATED TILES! Yes, again... But this time they work, and with properties (per frame), custom delays (per frame) and support for other properties features (such as pixel collision per frame, or underwater+pixel collision - which makes a small area of water). For more information, please check out the main post or my blog.


EDIT: Fixed a bug related to that language feature I once implemented. Yes, I'll re-add them in the future, because now they are more complete. But I'll need other languages too, because the old files were deleted. Sorry for the ones who made them - french and pirate - but they got incompatible. I'll ask for translations again in the future, but this time I'll be more careful for incompatibilities.

New small update! Fixed some texts not showing, added options to change a box property via box entity and cube dispenser (only manually, no Multigui yet), added HD loading screens and also added a language selector:

Why not. Here's a Dutch translation. However, this is untested and I hope I didn't make any contextual mistakes, and I'm sure there are a few strings that are too long to fit on the screen, I'll test this now.

Thanks again, Automatik! There were just a few changes for it, but I fixed them in your files. I had to adapt the text printing system to allow me to translate texts even if there are "strange" things on them (like "edit player [number]". The [number], before, would require me to make a translation for every number).

Should I make a system for users to install languages by themselves or should I keep including them as default in the mod?


Oh, and I just realized: along with this language update I also added a Multigui for boxes! Bonus! Although box dispensers may or may not work. Sorry if not...

One last thing: someone that knows Lua/LÖVE have any idea on how I can add non-UTF-8 characters?
For example, these are from Brazilian Portuguese:

Even though it may be better to display all languages in the list in their own name (english, portugues, nederlands, francais) so you don't have to add a string to each language file when another one gets made.

Okay, guys, no update yet, but soon (to add the cube dispenser Multigui and fix the cube's right click one). 'Til there, I want from you guys (again) some translations. They are still utf8 characters(Unicode has almost every character, this forum use utf8), it's just that sometimes utf8 characters take more than 1 byte. You should install that utf8 library, then add the characters to the font (font.png + fontglyphs). Then replace every instance of string.sub/len related to text printing with string.utf8sub/utf8len
So for example, this:

EDIT: Little update: In order to make accents look better than just "smashed" in an 8x8 square, I added (in fact, improved an already existing) system to load fonts taller than 8 pixels. They always get centralized, so chars like "ç" and "â" don't look out-of-place. And, along with this, I decided to tweak a little bit the default font. Guess what I did? I doubt you can find out in the screenshot below:

EDIT: So, while doing small things, I decided to make a quick test. I'm still making my "Blue Portals" mappack (if you were wondering), and will release it pretty soon. In world 2, I introduce the players to the fan. Remember them in Blue Portals? They launch you in high speed and can be redirected by portals. Also, not sure if you guys noticed, but in the last GIF I used a new feature from Triggers: detecting portals! And they can also be specified, by using "portal.id=[1/2]", "portal.player=[1/2/3/4]" or "portal.portalid=[1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8]". More about it later...

Triple update post (yay, forever alone!)

I FINALLY, FOR THE GLORY OF CODERS (is this the 3rd or 4th time I make this joke?), finished Commander functions! I made them by switching the command by an ACTUAL code. That means that, not only you can get custom values, but also change stuff in the game! I'll try to restrict some things (for example, non-mathematical function go in a master function, called do() ). Even those functions will be restricted, so you can't do "do(love=nil)" and f rea k up the game. But I've added a few functions already: rnd(a,b), which gets a random value between a and b, var(a), which gets the value of a variable (custom variables from the player), and spx(a,b) and spy(a,b), which gets a value based on the angle a and the master speed b. That means that you can get something on speed 20 on 45° without having to calculate the speed on x and y axis. I also fixed the current negative system, so you can either use "<" (the old method of setting negative values) or "-" (thanks to my custom characters feature).

Also, before this update, function where divided by "/" (an example: enemy spawn box [posx] [posy] rnd(10/50) rnd(20/40), where the random values would set the box speed). Now, it is more decent, and uses "," instead, thanks to the new custom characters feature (another example: enemy spawn box [posx] [posy] rnd(10,50) rnd(20,40)).

Another reason I changed the dividers by ",": now, with the functions implementation, you can make real calculations, like "enemy spawn box var(posx) var(posy) spx(player1.pointangle,var(speed)*var(friction)) spy(player1.pointangle,50)". Yes, you can load specific values from entities too, and make real advanced calculations. But be careful: differently from codes that run in LÖVE, you can't put spaces between values in functions. Keep in mind that commands are loaded by spaces, so they'd make the function fail. I'll try to change it, but, until there, this is a global rule.


Since this can get too advanced, I'm also open for suggestions of functions. Even though you can currently mod the mod inside itself, some functions that aren't in the mod could help. Functions like, I don't know, sin or cos can already be done (math.sin(a) or math.cos(a)). But get creative, guys! Here's a good example of the POWER OF A GOD that you get with Commanders now:

Also, should I restrict what you can do with them or not? I mean, if I don't restrict, people can f*ck up the game on purpose (like love.filesystem.remove("mappacks") or love=nil). If I restrict, people will not be able to make super-duper-advanced things (like love.graphics.setColor(255,255,255,55) or love.graphics.setDefaultImageFilter("linear","linear")).

Even though there's no much you can do with all functions allowed, I still want to know from you guys!

Maybe there's a way to detect if a command is malicious. Maybe just restrict what folders you can remove and stuff like that.

I can't see how love.graphics.setDefaultImageFilter("linear","linear") or l.g.setColor(255,255,255,255) is dangerous. But here's the lua wiki page on sandboxes : http://lua-users.org/wiki/SandBoxes
Note that there is a lot of tricky ways of doing bad stuff that have to be patched (ex : "while true do love.graphics.newScreenshot():encode(randomfilepath) end" ==> removing imagedata:encode() ). And since that mod is supposed to allow to do more stuff, I think you should just put a warning that any M+P mappack can contain code.

I meant that if I restrict functions usage, these kind of functions (that aren't dangerous) will be impossible.
I think that I'll have to restrict the use AND allow these plus a few other functions.
Thank you very much! I gave a look at your link and there are lots of useful things!

Oh, and, also, I'm not allowing much things. Since Commanders get different commands by separating spaces, structures like "if", "for" or "while" are currently impossible. Of course, it is subject to change, but still...

EDIT: I just realized that I was making the functions only return values. So there was no risk at all! But it also means that we can't do things like "love.graphics.setDefaultImageFilter" or anything like that. I might add these kind of commands in the future, though...

Okay, so I added the var("var name here") command (have to put the variable name in quotes, sorry... But hey! I added quotes! Positive point!) and made a few more adjustments to the make(something) function (although no safety check yet, but soon). I forgot to say, but I also added a few commands to Commanders and Environmental Triggers.
