Game Grumps: The Game is a modification focused around the Game Grumps. It will consist mostly of graphical changes from Mari0, but will include some gameplay changes as well (Portal guns are removed, for example). Arin and Jon will be playable by default, and Dan and Ross will be playable after the first mappack is completed. Someone else will be unlocked after something else, but I won't give that away. All material used in this modification (and that will be added in the future) that wasn't created by me was used with permission and I take no credit for it.

MrBulbamike - Music
GregzillaGT - Storyline (Mappack)
PixelBlock - Original Game Grumps Heads design
Qcode - Various modification help
Idiot9.0 - Various sprites

Here are some examples of what has been changed gameplay-wise:
Different sizes are removed. You are always "big" and there are three health stages. Fire power is given by getting to a certain point in the game.
Fireballs are thrown straight and three can be out at a time.
The way the player functions in closer to Super Mario Bros. than plain Mari0.
Each character will be given slightly different physics.
New aspects of the game are added (non-stop running levels, sublevel changing on the fly, life bar, power-ups no longer come from blocks, messages on-screen).
Pipes are changed to teleporters (push up to teleport).
Levels are ended by a door (reworked axe).
Level loading screens are more stylized and can be skipped.
Menus are redone in a new style that fits the game.
Players can be chosen.
Screenshots (not all are from the most recent version):

This modification is still being worked on so some things may not work/work correctly, be missing, or be inconsistent.

I'm not sure if this will be helpful to you or not but before I hit that level creating brick I was working on porting kirby's dreamland's levels to Mari0,
Long story short if you want you can use it for the first level.

I'm probably only going to add the first area plus the first door area, but thank you anyways. I wish I would have know about that earlier because I spent a crapton of time on it

I've made a lot of progress (in my opinion). I'm gonna upload another video soon because a series of pictures would be a waste of time

Even though I'm not much of a fan of the Game Grumps for multiple reasons, the mod alone is looking very spicy, and I love the new HUD.

Thank you! I'll have the new version up for download later today

Here's the video, but it's uploading. I wouldn't post it here normally, but I'm going to sleep while it uploads since my Internet tends to be slow, so...

I turned the sound off when I was working on it because I had started to get annoyed by the intro every 20 seconds, but when I turned it back on, it only randomly worked. Also, thank you!

Some major things to note: Small form is 99% gone flawlessly, player collision works now after hitting the flag pole, pipes animations have been changed to teleporting (there's gonna be teleporters in the mapacks) and are used by hitting up, not down. Also, stars are now bananas for banana shoes

Decided to post some things that aren't entirely Game Grumps related since some of you just like the design choices:

Some Sonic 06 love: Mach (Sorta) Speed as a cheat. No stopping, no turning around, and dying/getting hurt when stopped

Now I need this mod. That speed cheat would be so fun, and it adds some challenge too. Also, it can be used alone in it's own mappack.

I'll upload the newest version today once I finish the Mappack Select screen

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8db1k ... v0.05.love

There are two glitches with Mach Speed at the moment, if hit a wall and don't die, you don't keep going forward, and if you hold right even when hitting a wall, it won't harm you

I fixed some of the issues, but sorta made a new one. After getting hurt, if you hold left or right, you won't keep moving for some reason. On the bright side, life meter HUD and SMB3-ish getting hurt (powerup > big > small)

Gregzilla's doing the story? :) This is gonna be the best thing since the grump movie trailers to me.
I feel as if the banana shoes remix should be for the banana shoes.
(Ps. Heres an 8-bit banana shoes. https://www.dropbox.com/s/z0k941zo0gt6g ... 0Remix.mp3. )

He's not, TripleXero is simply basing the story of the mappack on his fake trailer.

I will be doing the Banana Shoe remix for the powerup, I just need to get a good section out of the song that sounds good and isn't just a 15 second clip randomly from it. After some time on SMB+, I'm taking a break on that again for this

"Hell" sublevel transition. Gif maker made this gif faster than normal (even after I changed the settings to what they normally are). If it isn't clear, going down that specific pit automatically transitions to the sublevel, and going through the hole at the end goes back to the main level, flinging you out of the hole. Still needs some work

I sense there will be a feature that'll allow drop warps without the use of vines, and vice versa.

Not true, you can go that just as well with vertical scrolling.
For example, I will point you to Super Metroid, the best game of all time:

You wouldn't have that at the time, the room is located near the room where power bombs are found, you don't get the X-ray scope until afterwards.

Turret why are you so obsessed that the first time someone came across that room they jumped into a killer flower? (also you forget they don't instantly die upon contact so it's safer to experiment, and it's not necessary to collect) I'm done arguing, this threads about game grumps, not super metroid's bad level design decisions.

How about we stop arguing about Super Metroid and get back on topic because this has taken a huge turn for stupid.
The Game Grumps mod uses transitions instead of vert. scrolling and that's most likely won't change unless Xero decides to and figures out how to make it happen.

Also you wouldn't have to "randomly" guess, because based on the map you posted above, the one with the secret is a little bit different, which would be the cause of suspicion and cause you to try jumping in there in the first place.

Okay, and drop topic START

Thank you for all the complements. Hopefully this doesn't sway anyone's opinions, but I should probably say this though, a lot of the new things I added (messages, level transitions, that weird scrolling "test" which I haven't explained yet) aren't editor options and are all individually added by code in game.lua

What made you say the Mickey Mousecapade thing? Did you notice that the ground from 1-4 is a modified log from that game, or because the Grumps played that game?

I showed the Game Grumps Reddit that, so I figured I'd post it here, too
