All Night Stabyourself Super Mario Bros.

For backstory, read this post and the next few after it.

So basically the plan is that when SE is released we recreate the original SMB mappack in the style of "All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros.", a version of the original Super Mario Bros. which replaced various graphics of the enemies with radio DJ's and other stuff.
This means we're gonna replace all the enemies with the Stabyourself forum members, and maybe a new custom tileset too.

This is where you, the forum members, come in. If you want to be part, just follow these rules:
NOTE: Currently entries for enemies are closed until SE's eventual release. Since this is unknown, so is the reopening of entries.
Few things you need to do: wrote:1) You must be in good standing with the community. If you're seen as a spammer, you're not getting in.
2) First of all, you have to post in this thread to show you're interested.
3) You have to say what enemy you want to be. Goomba, Koopa, even Bowser. Heck, if you want, you can even replace Mario.
4) You need to provide some sprites for us to work with.
The fourth rule is the most important of all. You need to actually CONTRIBUTE if you want to be part. Since I don't know exactly how you want to be represented, I can't make all the sprites myself. Now this doesn't mean you have to provide every frame. If you can make one or two frames of animation, I'd be happy to help you finish it up. Also, when making your sprites, try to keep within the boundaries of the original enemies. So if you're making a goomba, try to keep it 16x16px big. There can be more than one of each kind of enemy as well, so if someone calls a spot you want, it doesn't immediately mean you can't have it. There can be 2 or more Goombas/Koopas/Cheep Cheeps.

Also, If you apply for a certain enemy, there's no guarantee you'll get that spot. If only 8 members applied and they all applied for Bowser, then that wouldn't make a good all around graphic mod would it? There's a wide array of enemies, so don't be afraid to be a Goomba replacement.

One more thing: I'm only allowing up to 4 Mario replacements, and if you want to be one of them, you have to make the FULL sheet. If you really want to be Mario, show the effort.
NOTE: I've already got all the Mario positions filled. Sorry. If you want though, you can show off your custom Mario sprites, and if they're good and complete, I'll compile them for use with the character loader and advertise it's download in the first post, even if you already have another position in the mod.

The final version won't be until SE's release, but since it's mainly a graphic mod we can get a headstart on it. So if you're interested or have any questions, please post below.

1) Didn't think of replacing items, so I'll allow Mushrooms too. Just make sure to provide sprites.
2) More enemies....... maybe. The plan was to recreate the original SMB, just replace enemies. With SE's enemy creation, I was planning on letting more than one person be certain enemies, like have 3 people represent Goombas if we got enough people. But if enough people want more enemies, then you also will have to explain how they move and all that. But for now, maybe.

unortunately, you would suffer that frame one would just flip (horizontally) and when you stomp him, only then does it change to frame two.

That's why it's gonna be for SE, so we can make it a Goomba with the custom walk graphics. Custom entities and whatnot. But we can still make the graphics while we wait.

Maurice is Bowser for reasons I cannot share in public. But if you've seen the posts he makes on occasion you know what I mean.

Saso's eye that changes colors on occasion is the fireballs.

Oh, and keep in mind with how different environments work we could have up to four people playing the same role. There are exceptions, but still.

I'm not sure if Toad is able to be swapped with a graphic in SE. So I'll let you be Toad for now, but since I want to avoid changing any core graphics in the main game and only use custom entities when SE's released, make sure to plan on another entity to be if Toad's not replaceable.

Go ahead and be any one of those, just provide sprites, and what I said above to Bob's quote applies to you choosing either Toad or Peach. And I'm allowing up to 4 Mario replacements, so it does include Luigi I guess.

If Maurice add's graphic packs, we could change toad. But in any case, if we make it a mappack, then we can change toad.

I'd like to be part of this, but I'm debating on what I could be or what I'd use. My avatar style is way different, plus it's just me and I don't even have long hair anymore

actually if I recall all night had different people to save at the end of each world,
so if we run out of characters to replace (and possible avoid some hate mail) we could find a way to do that.
EDIT: oh and trosh should replace the princess.

For the SE release, even if we do run out of characters to replace there can be more than one replacement. (i.e. 2 goomba replacements) Custom entities and all that stuffs. Plus there's only 7 Toad slots anyway.
As for Trosh being the princess.... As long as he's okay with it, I'm all for it.
