Bob did a project where everyone made one map each. The result was pretty but extremely hard mappack which took longer than he thought to put together.
We had a week and he took about that to arrange it into an order.
I honestly don't consider it too much of a failure to be honest. A lot of people worked on your mappack and the result, whilst not perfect by any means, was at least quite enjoyable to play in the end.
Though the 'Best of Stabyourself' mappack looks better but it's as though it has an almost ellietist atmosphere, like this one, that stops people who are first time mapmakers from applying...
Bob did a very good job in managing the mappack, and as a whole it was a successful mappack. However, I stopped having fun with it around the endgame of the pack because those levels were just ridiculously hard and unfair. I actually did a level-by-level review in the thread. I dropped many F-bombs.
The "Best of Stabyourself" mappack does look better because it has a set of rules that people have to follow, like only using the provided tileset. However, these rules also are what make it elitist because, unlike Bob's mappack, you weren't allowed to do what you want, like enemy spam or stupid-hard jumps. It's a shame because there's some talented mapmakers on these forums who could help the pack greatly, but would rather not follow a few set rules.
This mod, too, is elitist and I'll accept that fact. It's not really welcome to newbies, but it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be for those who have been here since the start or have left a very good impression on the community to be featured so when people play it they go "Ohey, that's Renhoek I'm squishing LOL" and have fun.
