That's something you'll need to figure out when making your sprite now, isn't it?
Trist3D wrote:Side thingamajaginatormabob: The mappack will be an original mappack and not just a retextured original right?
No, the mappack I plan to release come SE's release is just the original SMB map. It will just replace all the enemies with custom entities so it can be released as a mappack instead of a mod, like it is now.
I do not intend to make a mappack based around this project. However, I welcome anyone to create a mappack for it if they want to. If you do though you need to make sure it's completable and not full of bad level design/enemy spam/overall rage.
If you want to try, go ahead.

Alrighty then, I'll have a new project once SE comes out.
(And figure out how to move the changed entities to the custom map)

How well known do you even have to be to be on here? I'm already in le mappack but I'm just wondering. .3.

Bob did a project where everyone made one map each. The result was pretty but extremely hard mappack which took longer than he thought to put together.
We had a week and he took about that to arrange it into an order.
I honestly don't consider it too much of a failure to be honest. A lot of people worked on your mappack and the result, whilst not perfect by any means, was at least quite enjoyable to play in the end.
Though the 'Best of Stabyourself' mappack looks better but it's as though it has an almost ellietist atmosphere, like this one, that stops people who are first time mapmakers from applying...

Bob did a very good job in managing the mappack, and as a whole it was a successful mappack. However, I stopped having fun with it around the endgame of the pack because those levels were just ridiculously hard and unfair. I actually did a level-by-level review in the thread. I dropped many F-bombs.

The "Best of Stabyourself" mappack does look better because it has a set of rules that people have to follow, like only using the provided tileset. However, these rules also are what make it elitist because, unlike Bob's mappack, you weren't allowed to do what you want, like enemy spam or stupid-hard jumps. It's a shame because there's some talented mapmakers on these forums who could help the pack greatly, but would rather not follow a few set rules.

This mod, too, is elitist and I'll accept that fact. It's not really welcome to newbies, but it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be for those who have been here since the start or have left a very good impression on the community to be featured so when people play it they go "Ohey, that's Renhoek I'm squishing LOL" and have fun.

The tileset I ended up using was terrible, though...

Why didn't you just have it where you could do whatever to the level, and then it got reviewed before it got put in? That way no giant Patricks with flying fireballs that spawn every 2 seconds and instantly kill you if you get within 200 million blocks of it.

'Cause it was organized by one guy.
And I did test every level to make sure it was possible in the level editor (for the most part)

First: I know you were supposed to be the Piranna Plant. I saw the sprites and everything.

Second: You have 15 posts. You're not gonna be recognizable if you never post on the forums. Most people I have accepted into this project have 100 or more posts. They frequent the forums and make themselves known as a community member. And this project is aimed to replace the enemies/items/Mario with people who are well known around the forums. If you're not well known it wouldn't be fulfilling that requirement.

If you really want to be in this project then get more involved in the forum itself. Trist3D was in that same boat: He wanted to be the 1-up shroom but was just a newbie. He decided to stick around the forums and now almost everyone can recognize him because he's been friendly, made good posts, and overall a good member. It's not hard.
(Also work on your sprites too. They weren't really good. You may not be a pixel artist but you can at least put some effort into being in this)
Well, the bad thing is, by the time I am seemingly no longer such a newbie, all the spots will be taken, and that sucks because I really want to be in this camp, but all the spots are being taken up so quickly. I feel so left out :(

By what time whositnow? No spots available? What is that nonsense???

By the time you're recognizable (and make some good sprites) you'll still have a chance in the mod. Except for the position of Mario and Bowser, there's no limits to how many people can replace one enemy. Come the SE release, as I've said many times already, the enemy replacement will be handled via the
custom enemy creation. And since I'm handling it that way, that means more than one person can be an enemy. We'll just alternate them when it comes to putting them in the mappack.

It would suck horribly if someone wasn't a newbie and they made a sprite, but it was so good that it didn't fit with anything so they couldn't use it.

MrLegoman, unfortunately you're not well known enough to be in the mod currently. You need to hang around the forums more and become more of an active member to the point of people knowing you well. If you can do that you'll have a higher chance of being included into this.

I am not including any of your sprites until you have at least one full set. You want to be in it? Show the damn effort. Don't like it? Deal with it.

Some criticism on the flying sprites; I don't think the arm on the closest side should have an outline separating it, and why does the eye style change?

Mod has been updated. Changes include:

-Legend_of_Kirby as Green Koopa (finally)
-Hatninja as the Underground/Castle Goomba (Yes I saw that)
-Entity menu changed to have the custom sprites in place. Go extra effort.

Download it from the OP on page 1 since I'm too lazy to link it here.
