awesome job so far,

if you don't have all the graphics from the game use this (and please don't use that tile under the grass pillars with the shading at the top it looks hideous, and I've seen people do it so many times.)
it contains every graphic from the game.

Very well done! I did notice a few bugs, such as Mario's wierd movement, glitchy hat 1, and his animation where he gets hit by an enemy. Other then that, great job!

I also suggest making a custom icon for the game. :)

Nice job, but since it looks like you put a lot of work into this, i'll point out some flaws...
hatninja wrote: ok so what do you mean by weird movement
i guess he meant the small mario movements...i'll explain better:
you made the animations sheets like this
Image
in the big mario walk animation you used the stand frame as 3rd walk frame, so when he walks it looks FINE.
but in the small mario walk animation you used the 1st walk frame again as 3rd walk frame, so it looks weird...use the small stand frame as 3rd walk animation for small mario too(like you did with big mario) and it should look fine, i guess.

also, you used the win pose as grow animation(and therefore, it affects the back to small animation when he is hit while big mario too), while it should be like this instead:
Image
(the one in the middle as grow animation/sprite in mari0 sheets)

other than that, the only thing i noticed is the "flipping coin out of a block" animation which is still the old one, but you already said you need to animate more stuff, so i guess the coin is already planned.

P.S.: i uggest you to use just one color sheet both for the pants and hat(leaving the 3rd sheet completely empty, not a problem, or use it for the skin like the original) so that it will be easier to handle the colors(especially for fire mario, since his hat's color is messed up).

P.P.S.: i know it's a huge pain in the ass, but adding the portal gun should be a priority, not just a "maybe".

IMO this should've been done before this was released. It is Mari0, after all.

Thanks for explaining it. =)

I also noticed that the Big Mario animation isn't correct either. Watch this and then play your Mari0 SNES Edition to see the difference yourself:

I also noticed your Fire Flower animation is off. Sorry for all these flaws. I know it's such a pain.

*video*
you're right, in this case he just have to switch the 1st and 2nd frames in the walk animation for big mario(small mario frames order is fine except for the 3rd walk animation frame to be replaced with the stand frame like i said before) and it'll be fine.

I must say this looks amazing! One thing I can point out thought, the 0 in the title screen needs to be redrawn. Right now it doesn't look quite right next to those title letters.

You have to rename the extension (.zip) at the end to a LOVE file (basically just change the .zip into .love).

If you haven't downloaded then engine (whatever it's called, program), you can't play it either.

dont extract it, go to to stabyourself front page, go to mari0 downloads and go to source, if i recall correct, it will give you the possibility to download the game, or the LOVE engine, download the LOVE engine, install, now you can run .love files, so rename the .zip to .love, run and play :P

by the way, this looks amazing, really it's great.

. . .

haven't downloaded it, so tell me, is it a full mod or the files to place inside a .love file?

from what i read i thought it was the game modded...

honestly i think every mod thread should have a small part dedicated to how to install it...

Just run the .love file in the download.

Every time I go down a pipe in a "bonus" section, I somehow get embedded into a wall, and I go left. The only way I could get out of there is crouch-jumping and portal-placing.

Dude, tell me how you did the menu music and extra sound effects for certain other features; I want to add them to the SJB mod. (However, it sustains the title BGM in most cases after playing a map pack).

Also, you may want to check Big Mario's running animation; it looks kind of... "weird" so to say.

Ok, I got this working, sorry for those who wanted to do this before and my directions didn't work. Again, I don't have Notepad++/any editor with line numbers, so bare with me and use the search function...

1. In main.lua, find the area that starts "--sounds" add this line, changing the words in caps to the necessary things: "MUSICTITLE = love.audio.newSource("sounds/MUSICFILENAME.ogg", "stream");MUSICTITLE:setLooping(true)"
2. Still in main.lua, scroll down and find "soundlist" and add whatever you replaced "MUSICTITLE" with to that list. When this is done, save
3. In menu.lua, add the line "playsound(MUSICTITLE)" right after "love.audio.stop()" in the beginning of the file

There you go, now this actually works!

No, the title screen music. I had a completely different post explaining it before, but it didn't work, and the new one doesn't really make any either unless you read the old one, sorry

Tried that myself within' BBedit and couldn't get it to load even when I put it in the sounds folder for Mari0's folder and zip the contents and rename it to .love

Hey, this a great mod and I enjoy the graphics, but there are bugs with the coin rooms in world 1-1 and 1-2 if you are big mario currently, as when you enter the coin room in 1-1 and 1-2, you spawn inside the wall. In world 1-2 you can escape it and get the coins and exit the coin room, but in 1-1 you are forced to suspend and reload the game. Just wanted to point out some flaws in the maps.
