Okay Turtle, I booted up your mod for the first time and some of the graphics used for the extra entities still look wonky. The custom cursor/crosshair is very jagged and blocky, The "!" switch blocks (and their triggers) look too simple for their own good, Bomb-ombs nor Thwomps should have outlines so they match with all the SMB1 stuff, the grates still lack symmetry, and the Ice-Gold flowers, the Wing Mushroom, and the Fire Bros (alongside the Switch Blocks have never had their colors changed so they'd resemble what they would on a real NES, or at least something that matches original hardware.
Don't be afraid to hijack graphics or colors/pallettes from external sources to get the best visual aspects out of the features available (what I most recommend is my collection of ROM hacks as shown on the "SMB Hack Port Project" thread in the Mapping section). I look for absolute perfection with the stuff I create, and I'm sure it'd all help you in the end as well.

I would have the graphics be better, but I'm no good at spriting. Well, to make things simple, restrict the colors of each sprite/entity to only these colors, and only use three or four per sprite:
Here is a hack of SMB1 (Adventures of Ice Mario) that swaps the Fire Flower with the Ice Flower, projectile included.
In regards to the switches and switch blocks, the hacks "Extra Mario Bros" and "Switch" both undergo their own versions of switch blocks.
In Extra Mario Bros, hitting a "!" block turns the switch blocks on and off. When on they become solid and show a blinking diamond in the center, which gets dimmer and brighter.
With "Switch", it's two sets of Switch blocks, one blue, the other red, where striking the ? block (the ! block is just a block that enables scrolling into the next room) alternates between the red switch blocks being solid and the blue transparent and vice versa.
Oh, and if you want, you can always fix this one problem that plagued Mari0 since day 1:... The "bobbing" Buzzy Beetles.

I did quite a few of the ones SJB complained about. I must admit the 'ice blocks' he posted for this were really cool. I just wanted it to fit in with the SMB style which is quite a bit less detailed than what SJB produces.BobTheLawyer wrote:Those look really nice Mr.Q.Marx?

It doesn't look much different than the SMB3 one, just colors changed and outline removed. I think it looks fine, but maybe redo the top spikes? Without the outline they look joined together

I have a custom-cursor version that has a mouse pointer. However, it's not meant to look exactly like the windows mouse. It's all black (I think, but it's been a while since I used the mod, I'm busy working on putting it in the new version now so I can use it.) until you fire portals, and it shows half the mouse with that color. I can post the images or the .love file so others can use this, if turtle is okay with that. Not posting until I get a response though.

Just use the original tiles and stick them on the other side, or open an image editor and flip them. Very simple stuff
