If I've heard correctly, in Mari0 SE, Maurice is going to add something so you can add your own characters. I'm not really sure though.

That's why I said I'm not sure. I know that somewhere, Maurice said that. Like I said, I'm not sure. And no, it's not an auto spriter. I think you have to make the character's sprites (like Hans did), then you have to do some other unknown stuff, and tada.

This is very nice.
If you do the "big" sprites too, I'll include this (with your agreement of course) in Mari0 SE.

Here are the most up to date mario sprites. They're maybe a little better to work with.
It doesn't have the unneeded 2nd swim frames for example.

There is a nice place on the internetz that's called ''The Spriter's Resource'', that already had ripped the tiles and sprites of various games, including NES games, out for you, saving you both the time and the trouble of doing it yourself. They even have it for Zelda II, which can be found here. Maybe you'll find it of use to you.
If you don't want to do it yourself, I've found that just pausing the game and getting a screen capture is a good method too.

I ripped some of the games up there and AnimGet is a so much easier way to do that. It printscreens each time the image changes so you get the process pretty much done. Bare in mind though, ripping for player mods means you also have to customise it with a portal gun.

Didn't I see a mod on here where Mario's lost and Link saves him through the portal tests which had gravity gel before anyone had heard of it? I seem to remember it...
EDIT well this took too many months to find viewtopic.php?f=13&t=721

because the premise of mario carrying a portal gun isn't already a beastly idea.

beastly + beastly = 2beastly

The idea of making a game even more amazing seems like a weird thing to be frowned on.
I'm personally looking forward to seeing the Atlas sprite sheet. It looked very nicely sprited.

If you did include would the haas still work with Link because his head is different than Mario's? Not really a priority, you could just disable hats for those who it doesnt work.

SE uses different hat off-sets for different characters. Meaning hats will move to fit Chell, Mario, Link, Luigi, Commander Viridian, Atlas and whoever else anyone feels like making. As long as the sprites have a standard distance around all of them on the sheet they don't even need to line up with the standard Mario ones to work ingame. It's a pretty win system however it needs more coding than the drag and drop mods we have now. Not much coding but a bit more than hatloader does by the looks of it.
