Animated Hat Tutorial

So you're interested in making an animated hat? Then just follow this tutorial and hopefully you'll be able to make your own.
(This tutorial assumes you'll be using Canl's hatloader mod, and have it already downloaded.
This tutorial will not help you install a custom hat in any other way.)
Step 1: Making the animation
You first will need to make the animated hat for Mario. If you don't have an image of Mario, save this one and use it as a reference:
Now we're going to make the hat. For this tutorial, we're gonna make a little dancing man on Mario's head. Example:
This is the first frame of our animation. The final hat will be a frame-by-frame animation, so you'll need to make all the additional frames for the hat.
Once all the frames of animation are done, line all the frames up, side by side, and save as a .png file. Example:
Once that's done, move on to:
Step 2: Setting it up
First, make a new folder, name it whatever you like, preferrably with a name matching the hat.
Place the .png file you just made of your animated hat into the folder you just made.
Open notepad or any other similar program, make a new file, save it as settings.txt, and save it in the folder as well.
Now type this in the notepad:

"Name" is the name of the hat
"Description" is a small bio of the hat
"Modifiers" are used to change mario with the hat (I think?). Some examples of modifiers are: hidesmallgun, hidebiggun, hidesmallplayer, hidbigplayer
"Newanimhat" is used to place the hat in the proper spot, load the .png file within the folder, and say how fast the animation will be.
In order, the numbers represent:

smallx,smally,smallheight,smalltotalframes,smallspacing,smallcyclerate,smallgraphic,
bigx,bigy,bigheight,bigtotalframes,bigspacing,bigcyclerate,biggraphic-With smallx, greater values means it will be more to the right. So "8" will be farther right than "-3"
-With smally, greater values means it will be further down. So "5" will be lower than "-4"
"smallheight" is the height of the hat
"smalltotalframes" is how many frames of animation are in your hat
"smallspacing" is the width of a single frame of your animation.
"smallcyclerate" is the speed your animation will play at. (All of my animated hats have had 0.1 or lower)
"smallgraphic" is your png file. The .png extension is not needed
"big" numbers are exactly the same descriptions, but usually the "x" and "y" values will differ.
So, as an example, the Dancing man settings file would look like this:

Load up the game, and look for your hat in modloader.
If you put all your values right, the final hat should look like how you want it. Example, the Dancing man looks like this in-game:

Tips
-Unless you're really accurate, you most likely won't get the x and y positions correct on your first try. Use the game as a helpful guide to help you find the right spot.
-You can have different animations for both small and big Mario. Just have two .png files inside the folder, and make sure to put the correct filenames in place in the setting.txt
-Use an animated hat you downloaded as a guide for your first hat. I did, it helped me with my first hat.

You can use these to make your own hats. Just draw the hat you are going to make over these, then after you're done, erase everything else.

1. Download HatLoader by "canI" from viewtopic.php?f=13&t=750
2. Open the .love file with winrar or anything similar.
3. Drag the downloaded folder into the "hats" folder.
4. Run the HatLoader .love file.
5. Select your favorite hat using the Hat Loader menu and enjoy!

Step-By-Step Tutorial to Install My Hats:
1. Download the latest LÖVE Beta at the bottom of https://love2d.org/builds/
2. Download the Mari0 source at the bottom of http://www.stabyourself.net/mari0#download
3. Open the .Love file with WinRAR or an equivalent.
4. Open hatconfigs.lua with notepad or an equivalent.
5. Paste the hat code provided at the bottom of the document.
6. Open bighatconfigs.lua with notepad or an equivalent.
7. Past the bighat code provided at the bottom of the document.
8. Drag the big hat picture into graphics/SMB/bighats/
9. Drag the hat picture into graphics/SMB/hats/
10. Run the .love file.
