Mari0 Mix v0.1 (Flexible Level Design)
... Oh, wait I'm supposed to say something. Hello.
Since I downloaded Mari0 a few days ago I've been tinkering with the level creator, and have made a single, fairly dynamic level. By "dynamic", I mean that aside from like... One point, you can beat the whole thing without the portal gun. Or you could feasibly beat it in under 10 jumps with the portal gun. Or you can mix it up, it's up to you. It's got enough old and new to keep you from getting bored of either
There's a bit of button-pushy door-openy invisible-blocky action as well, but not the kaizo kind, trust me. I hate those as much as you do. The worst the invisible stuff will be is a speedbump, and sometimes one worth taking as you can create infinite loop setups to catapult across the latter area of the map. Again, up to you.
In short, this is a level meant to be replayed a few times, whether you're trying to speedrun, coinrun, or get the highest score you can, or even if you just want to try a certain part differently. There are also two endings; If you can't figure out the puzzle at the end, take the pipe on the ground to finish the level before time runs out. The optional second ending is a bit tricky too. Good luck! I'd love to see some bragging about how you do.
Quick demo video by PvtVain. Note, he takes the standard exit. You'll have to see the alternate for yourself!

Place in C>Users>(yourname)>AppData>Roaming>LOVE>mari0>mappacks, if you didn't already know.
Not sure where to put it on a Mac, haven't used mine in an age.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Might make an entire 8 world pack of levels like this eventually. Also, let me know if there are issues with the download link. Never used Dropbox's public frontend before.

I haven't played through the whole thing yet, but as of what I have played, it was actually a little challenging which means you did a good job. I'll try it some more later. One thing I would like to add though is maybe adding a checkpoint in the second area you get to (after going down the first pipe).
Hm? You mean the last pipe after the light bridge puzzle? That part's supposed to be challenging for a reason.ChrisTorp wrote:I haven't played through the whole thing yet, but as of what I have played, it was actually a little challenging which means you did a good job. looks cool, mind if i copy your route to %appdata% and pastse it on my post because im lazy?
Sort of an experiment I guess. Later on once there are more worlds I might tie the secret exits to warp zones so you can beat the game faster, but make it more challenging at the same time.Maurice wrote:I'm sorta confused why there's 2 endings.
And DragonNine, go ahead.
